Prospect Info: Blues 2024-2025 Prospect Thread

Craig Button released his NHL prospects ranking for all affiliated prospects. It’s definitely a “what-have-you-done-for-me-recently” list from where I stand. But that means he gives huge props to Jimmy Snuggerud.

Blues players:
#9: Jimmy Snuggerud
#21: Dalibor Dvorksy
#24: Theo Lindstein
Lindstein rated above Nemec. That’s…an opinion alright. I am a little surprised Nemec hasn’t stuck in the NHL yet though.

Can’t say I agree with Button’s list much but his list being so vastly different from Pronman, Wheeler etc I think goes to show that it’s really hard to say at this point in their development who is all going to be better than the others. Lots of differing opinions out there.

From what Lindstein has said, the player is pushing to come over and club has not yet decided.
Interesting I had only read that he wants to but hadn’t seen anything saying the Blues thoughts on it, just figured the whole thing would wait until the offseason. I would be pretty shocked if the Blues didn’t want him over here getting acclimated to the NA game and his future teammates.

You don’t have to be elite to project to being quite a bit better than Gunnarsson…
Gunnarson was a reliable top 4 guy for the majority of his career, not a whole lot of offense but a little more earlier on in Toronto but was was dependable in his own zone and could make good outlet passes. I don’t think it’s an unfair comparison from what I’ve seen in Lindstein, quiet dependable top 4 guy who doesn’t put up many points is the future I see for him. Obviously would love for him to hit another level and maybe find some offense but other than the WJC last year I haven’t really seen anything that would lead me to believe he could. It does happen from time to time but normally guys who have never put up points at any level don’t start doing so in the NHL. Just pointing out I think Gunnarson is a solid comparison, obviously would love him to hit a higher ceiling but wouldn’t be upset with a Gunnarson type either from a very late 1st round pick

Thoughts on Dvorsky getting 9 games at the end of March?

We have a 4 day break from March 9th to the 12th, Springfield has a game on the 9th and then 4 days off after that. So he could meet with the Blues and get a practice or two in before his first game. From the 13th to the 27th, we have 9 games against mostly kitten-soft teams: PIT, MIN, ANA, NSH x3, VAN, CHI, and MTL. Not to mention that the first of those games would be in PIT against Crosby and the Penguins. Dvorsky has mentioned that Crosby is one of his favorite players growing up, so that would be a cool "welcome to the NHL" moment for him.

Dvorsky would get a taste of the NHL, but not in games where we're likely to get stomped. They should be competitive games given that we'd be playing mostly teams close to us in the standings. He'd miss 6 or 7 games for the Thunderbirds, but be back for the last 9 or 10 games and then AHL playoffs.

I think we’re probably getting closer to a call up after the trade deadline. PerryTurnball’s reports seem to be that Dvo is started to look more pro ready. Armstrong was of the mind that when they call him up they want it to be for good but that quote was a while ago and weren’t not going to be playing for much down the stretch so he’s not going to be thrown into a playoff race. I could foresee a “cup of Coffee” call up in March to set the tone for Dvo’s ‘25-‘26

I’ve heard worse ideas :dunno:

I don’t know if anyone got to which any of the Kingston game yesterday. On I believe the Owen sounds first goal, the puck deflected and appeared to hit Quinton Burns up around his face. I had to leave soon after. Did he return for the rest of the game? Was he okay. Sure didn’t look good.

I think point totals coming from the SEL are very difficult to predict at the NHL level. I do think most scouts would agree that Lindstein has more upside than Gunnarsson (projected as a safe pick by many Blues fans). I think 25-30 points per season is a very reasonable expectation for Theo once he gets acclimated to the NHL.

I agree. He will be one of those incrementally successful NHLers. Nothing spectacular, but that’s okay because all we need from him is top-4 D play.

I may be dating myself some here but years ago many European leagues only gave one assist. So you would see a scouting report that says this guy is a great playmaker and he didn’t have very many assists. I don’t think they freely give points as they do here in America. I have no proof to that but it sure seems that way.

My expectations are similar, i see him becoming a player with a point total in the 20s.

Anyone know what's going on with Adam Jiricek? Looks like he's missed some more games.
here is what someone posted:
I was watching his game on Wednesday. It happened in the first period, he was crunched on a hard check about 5:30 into the game along the wall a little ways into the zone on right wing. He fell to the ice, got up, stayed out there for the next 25 seconds then went down the runway.

Then a bit later he came back to the game. I thought it was ok, but it seemed concussiony to be honest and now he has missed the last two games. His whole thing is he needs to play and stay healthy he has a lot of aspects of his game he needs to work on. But he can't seemingly stay healthy.

Luke Fischer, this is our most exciting defenseman with the highest ceiling. Above Lindstein ceiling IMO because their natural instincts are different, Lindstein can be a little too passive despite being ultra poised and steady. Fischer is a natural athlete who has a ton of dynamic jump to his skating and game. He is still a work in progress, have been watching him throughout January and he had an incredible couple weeks recently. Saw almost all of his game instead of the Blues s-show, then switched over to the WHL for Stancl, Jecho, McIsaac, Mrsic (1+3 last night but beware he is a PP specialist and all three assists were on the man advantage where he is truly tough to stop). Got another good look at Jackson Smith against Stancl last night.

Man thats bad news on Jiricek, hopefully he can get healthy and resume playing soon. Kid either has terrible luck or is made of glass it seems.

Would it be safe to say that Lindstein has the lower ceiling but a higher floor, and that Fischer has the higher ceiling but a lower floor? I haven't seen Fischer play yet and I've only seen Lindstein at the last two WJC tournaments.
