This is maybe my worst take of all time.

I’m super patient with prospects and I don’t particularly need any of them to be rushed.

But if we’re going to give Dvorsky 9 games this season.

We should do it during the timeframe where the winter classic is one of the games.

Give the kid a reward for the work he has put in and give the event some extra promotion.

It’s still going to be a lot more work for Dvorsky the coming years and I think that expectation can be communicated. At the same time, Chicago will have some highly motivated youth in their lineup (Nazar). Why not meet them with some of our own.

If the 9 games are coming one way or another, seems like a nice thing to do. You’d probably benefit more from what you see from him in this game than some early spring matchup against a bottom feeder.

Plus, maybe if you call him up we can lose 3-2 instead of 3-1 and that’s 2 times the amount of goals we usually score so we’ll all be happy.

So then who would you "punish" by making them sit out the winter classic in favor of a kid who's probably not ready yet? I think it's smart not to call up top prospects until you're 95% sure they're ready to come up full time. Calling him up for a short stint only to send him back down again would be more demotivating than a reward IMO. Once a guy gets a taste of the NHL the last thing he wants is to get sent back down to the A.

Did something change where players in the AHL aren't tolling their ELCs?
Entry Level Slide is for all players under 20 who play less than 10 games in the NHL in a season. It's why if you look at Kostin he had 5 years on his ELC even tho he started in the AHL at 18.

While that is very true. It isn’t like there are other teams with 2-3 players on te Canada. Further, there are plenty of teams in the NHl that draft Chex and Slovak players and they don’t have 9 players in Juniors. Why is more impotent is the number of player we have on the all tournament teams.

Well that is weird. Your link clearly specifies returning to junior for the slide. But then it also lists Dvorsky. I don't see anything about professional leagues

Idk why it specifies Juniors. But it is all Non-NHL leagues that allows a player to be under contract with the NHL while playing in that league.

I believe you that they changed it and I missed that, but it seems like a huge philosophical switch to allow AHL games to not count toward a professional hockey contract just because a guy is slightly younger!!

I do think when that lineup comes, if a guy like Texier is the scratch I wouldn’t consider it a punishment. But otherwise yeah good point. I don’t wanna pick on Texier or anybody, but in general, if you’re paid to score and you haven’t scored much it’s your own job security that is at risk. If you’re scoring then your job is safe. Not much changes that. There’s a lot of times bad things happen to good people because of this mechanic, and a lot of it is luck. From some perspectives it is unfair.

I think I’d absolutely set the expectation of Byfield’s career with Dvorsky. Show him that Byfield spent parts of 3 seasons in the ahl. Same high pick, same position, same hype, same conference.

I’d let him know he can beat Byfield for sure, but if you set the expectations with valid evidence people sometimes adapt better to their circumstances.

I’d have him listen to Byfield’s interview with 32 thoughts that occurred right before the season; the dude is pumped and positive, none of his long path has hurt him, and now his icetime is up, his team is winning with him in a key role. No way Byfield loved multiple returns to the ahl but he’s gonna bag a hundred mil career earnings if he keeps it up.

I’d prefer Dvorsky transition 1 time, but I don’t think it would break him to go thru a few. If it ends up he’s playing like 10-12 nhl min a game and scratched on and off I’d rather him 1C down there.

Fair points. I don't think we're that far off from seeing Dvorsky on the Blues. I just think they wanna be convinced he's ready rather than risk pulling the trigger too early. But if 3c continues to be a black hole then they might be forced to give him a shot sooner than later.

Oh they overlap? Yeah…my bad on that then. Nevermind.
Hey, you said it was bad take.

It is more interesting to me being in Wrigley Field than anything. I am sure that's the only time I'll ever see the Blues play in Wrigley Field. The Hawks may be terrible but they are the archrivals,

Blues I no longer believe are one of the ten worst teams. They didn't get results the last two nights but they have stopped being below average and are now purely average.

It's inconvenient timing
I don't care about standings, consequences, outdoor games, lottery ramifications, exciting rookies, sexual misconduct, bizarre health issues, disgraced coaches, overpaid veterans, holiday breaks, the Olympics, Patrick Kane's cab fare, etc. When the Blues play the Blackhawks I always want to beat their ass.

After the WJC, which prospect do you think other teams fans will start sneaking into trade proposals on the trade forum?

So was last night Dvorsky’s last game in Springfield before the tourney or is he expected to play this afternoon?
