I was looking at scoring leaders in the AHL, and got a bit of a blast from the past. Former Blues 4th round draft pick Glenn Gawdin is leading the league in scoring with 20 points in 15 games. I wonder if we ever see a reunion with him in Springfield since Matthew Peca is 31. He'd be a good fit as the veteran leader of that squad.

He's not really joking. He does start off by highlighting the ages, but then argues that this is the first time that Mrsic is the focal point of an offense. This is the same type of person that would've projected Brett Sonne as our future #1 center after his 08/09 junior season.

Brett Sonne is the goat

I remember several people here were pretty high on Gawdin.

Apparently, they weren't wrong.

Sounds like Dvorsky will (likely) not be released for the WJC to play for Slovakia
Unfortunate for you Slovakia fans, but I think this is the right call for his developmental. Dvorsky is playing well in the AHL and Springfield is on a roll. Keep the momentum going.

I hope he's not there.

The Thunderbirds have 4 games during the tournament and he would also have to miss 2 additional games if Slovakia demanded that he play in at least 1 of the pre-tournament exhibition games (which would more a more than reasonable request). Air-dropping him into the tournament games when he arrives after the exhibition games isn't a good situation for anyone, so we'd almost certainly be talking about 6 missed AHL games.

He is a pro player now. The competition in the AHL is stronger than the competition at the World Juniors and he is getting ample minutes/opportunities in the AHL. As much as I love the World Juniors and want to see him go light it up there, I don't really see the developmental benefit of sending him.

Let him keeping playing pro games and let him enjoy the Christmas party with his pro teammates.

Pekarcik, Lindstein, Stenberg, Stancl, Jiricek if he's healthy but who knows if he will be, Jecho maybe

Edit: Outside chance of Kos maybe? Not sure what the Czech team looks like

Is Burns still eligible? He might make Canada's preliminary squad. Also, add Fischer for USA.

If Dvorsky wants to play in the WJC, I say you let him. He needs confidence, and no better way of doing that than letting him go represent his country and beat up on guys that are much worse than him. Come back for the back 9 of the AHL season, and be ready to go for full-time NHL duty in 25-26

I highly doubt he’s lacking confidence. He’s the #1 center on a pro team and is doing well.

He absolutely needs to continue playing pro games, the World Juniors would be kind of a waste of time.
