Blues 2024-2025 Prospect Thread

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

We’ve seen players make their NHL debut in the postseason before. It’s not out of the realm of possibility he could do that, but it would probably mean a long playoff run with some wear and tear on the starters.

Ironically, since I’ve been supportive of them competing for a playoff spot - it’s still about the future. I have no problem subbing in a rookie to improve his development, even if it risks some uneven play. My argument has always been that the competitive games have more value to the team (and players’ development) than the incremental improvement in playoff standing. That’s especially true when you only really have a first this year.

However Montgomery has talked about dancing with the one that brought you, to the effect that I think he will respect the veteran players who fought their way back into the mix, and won’t easily give ice time to a rookie.
I think he'd still get some amount of games, just that people underestimate what Sunny and Joseph bring. Ideally we lock up a spot early and that opens up minutes for Dvorsky and Snuggy.

I agree. But put him in the AHL to get those games. I think Monty's quote about the dance is his way of saying he isn't really worried about getting Dvorski or Snuggs playing time down the stretch.

Sunny is also battling through injury/wear and tear. That is why Dvo played the other night. We may well want to spell Sunny (or others) so they have more left for playoffs.

Below is an article talking about the Kelowna Rockets end of season awards.
Kelowna Rockets hand out awards as players get set to go their separate ways for the summer - WHL

Buried in there is this nugget:
Jakub Stancl won a couple of awards Tuesday night. He was named the team’s most valuable player and scoring leader with 57 points.

Stancl was not at the ceremony Tuesday. He left earlier in the day to begin his professional career in the St. Louis organization.
So Stancl left earlier on Tuesday. Sounds like he’s Springfield bound to me!

If the Gophers lose tomorrow and Buchy is still not good to go, Monty could be deciding between Snuggy or Texier for our game Saturday. The end of the season is getting here pretty quick.

Need tex to not score the next game so monty can justify taking him out lol. Which for snuggy, i support lol

I think once we either lock up a spot or more or less lock up a spot, I think we'll see guys get more "maintenance" days.
This was my take when discussing if prospects will play this year. I don’t think Monty will need to make any change in the sense of trying to justify taking a guy out of the lineup for a rookie. Everyone one the roster has been playing well but also playing hard. Snuggie could get his chance to play simply to give a roster player a breather. There doesn’t have to be a near cutthroat reason to make a change like that.

With Dvorsky out of their lineup, I’d expect to see Stancl suit up before Fischer.
I would expect Stancl centering a line and Fischer playing the wing…haha. They are hurting for forwards. I haven’t seen or heard any kind of timetable on any of them coming back either. I haven’t heard him talk about it during any of the games. It’s really odd.

They just announced that him and Fischer will be joining Springfield!
I'm genuinely surprised that Fischer will be going too. In years past, most Blues defensemen get promoted to the AHL after their D+2 season, let alone at the end of their D+1 as an 18 year old. I suspect Sarnia not making the OHL playoffs is part of this equation. I have a fairly high degree of confidence that Fischer will be an NHL player in 2-3 years behind Broberg and Lindstein, which makes me wonder what management will do with Ralph eventually.

I’m also surprised. lol Actually, it’s approaching mild shock.

Not that I dislike the player, as he’s shaping to be a good one. My expectation was for Fischer to do one more season in juniors.

I’ll trust the Blues FO on this one.

Same with Dvorsky. I was mildly shocked that he was called up.

He'll return to juniors next season.

Does this mean that Stancl and Fischer will be on Springfield next year? Or can they go back to where they came from?
