Yes, I agree, he will go back to junior after the 9 games. But I believe that will be his last year in juniors, right?
Yes for sure, he’ll turn 20 this year and I’d be shocked if he doesn’t AHL time eventually. I see a jack Quinn path for him

Anybody know where I can find a roster with the scrimmage rosters? Trying to watch the stream but can’t figure out who half of these guys are without name/numbers

And maybe they dominate in camp, and Neighbours/Bolduc go the Schwartz/Tarasenko route where one goes right into the top 9 and the other develops their blue-collar game on the 4th line. That would fit their play styles, but I'm not sure either is to the level of those counterparts.

Strangely enough I think that is a distinct possibility this season. Neighbours on the 4th line with Acciari/Toropchenko/? and Bolduc with Barby and Schenn. Unlikely based on how we typically roll but not completely outside the realm of possibility.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more viable it is. I think it's plausible that Army wants a roster where both of them do have a fighting chance to make the club out of camp. I wouldn't put money on it, but it's not like either is roster blocked.

This'll be one to keep an eye on as there will be competition for his signature at the end of his college season. I think he was at the Bruins camp last year. Really hoping we're able to land him.

As someone pointed out earlier, Malmstrom has already made it known he is going to stay in college at Bowling Green for his junior year. That means he won't be signing with anyone right now because he would lose his eligibility. However, if he's really this good (and more than one source says he is), he will be getting a lot of calls as soon as his junior season is over. If memory serves, Parayko left college after his junior year. Of course, the Blues had already drafted him so we had exclusive negotiating rights in that case

That said, he wouldn't be able to get more than a standard entry-level contract no matter who signs him, right? If so, he would decide which team he feels is best. If that's true, he holds all the cards...

Absolutely loved what I saw out of Landon Sim today. Has more deception, pace and skill than i expected him to have and he's seems like a quick little annoying rat type of player that can help a bottom 6 in the future. For a 6th rd pick i liked what i saw. Now who knows where he ends up at the end of the day but he definitely caught my eye today and i'm actually excited to watch what he does this year with more playing time and responsiblity. Kinda reminds me of Yanni Gourde in terms of his playing style.

Also liked what i saw out of Noah Beck, Jesse Tucker(LMAO) & Snuggerud, i loved his decision making, poise, playmaking and showcased some individual 1 on 1 skill and I just thought he showed really strong instincts and reminded me of thomas in the way he sharply and quickly diagnosed and anticipated play. Obvi has a much different physical skillset than thomas but I felt mentally he was on a similiar wave length to him if that makes sense. The part about his brain/hockey sense isn't just what i gathered from that game, been watching snugg for two years now. I think him and thomas will play off each other soooo well someday in the future.

Bolduc was kinda disapointing, i know he scored a hatty, he certainly has some nice in tight finishing ability, especially that shootout goal which was filthy, but I didn't see what i was hoping to see out of him. He didn't dominate, didn't protect pucks and didn't really do much on the goals he scored, I thought there was alot missing in his "process" to being an NHL'er right now, even though he got results on the scoresheet. He forced alot off the rush trying to do much, maybe he was just trying to showcase his skill and try to wow everybody idk, but i really hope it's just a maturity thing. It'll be really interesting to see him in camp with the pros and see how/if he adapts his game, which i'm guessing he will. I'm still bullish on bolduc but definitely was left wanting more after today.

Obviously this is just a low key prospect game and we can take it all with a grain of salt. Just figured i'd give my two cents. Hopefully we see more out of bolduc in camp.

and i'm bored...love discussing and debating prospects.

I saw the other day a hockey analyst said that when looking at prospect camps, if a prospect shows nice skills but doesn't look clearly better than other guys there, they ain't NHL ready. Guy who is NHL ready should dominate camp. I was hoping Bolduc would from what I saw today he didn't. Doesn't mean he won't be fine player, but makes you doubt whether he can really push for roster spot this year.

And agree with basically all of your observations above, btw. Nice writeup.

Agreed, i have very low hopes of bolduc making a push, which is good for his development anyway in the sense that he's not hopefully not getting rushed into the league. Going into that game i thought he'd get a 9 game trial, after seeing that i'm like uhhhhhh..... oh boy.... but again, it's just a prospect game, don't wanna go overboard with it, we'll see what we need to see (good or bad) in september

Any thoughts on Malmstrom? Think he has a legit shot of being a top 4 NHL defender? Chances we sign him? Etc

i was suprised by how much skill and mobility i saw from beck. he is bit older, so he should look better, but looks like a guy who might have a slight shot down the road. that said, his feet seemed ahead of his head, so likely he's just a minor leaguer.

He's someobody I'll need to sink my teeth into more. I might rewatch the game later since i was distracted during some of it and didn't know who a bunch of the guys were the first half of the game lol. He did catch my eye though. Big D that could skate. The puck skill seemed a little clunky but I really wasn't paying a ton of attention to him. Galloway I thought at times looked good as well. Nothing special or sexy offensively but very Edmunson esque.

Agreed, he seemed extremely confident with the puck.

After paying attention to him now I actually really like his tools. He’s good with the puck and moves well especially at that size.

I didn’t love his play away from the puck I thought he was a bit of a river boat gambler and got burned for it a couple times like on bolducs first goal.

That being said it was 4 on 4 and 3v3 so I don’t know how he reads the game at 5v5. I definitely like the sum of his parts tho. Definitely a player we should look to sign in a year or two on an AHL deal

Galloway looked really good defensively but thought he made several bad plays with puck. Like just throw it into traffic in defensive zone bad. So he has tools but not sure about that toolbox.

I would like to see Bolduc push for an NHL roster spot. Expect he'll get his 9-game tryout and see what he can show.

Not much left to prove in the Q. He just needs to get stronger.

Yeah I’m watching the game again and I’m liking Galloway less and less, malmstrom more and more and Furry more. Robertsson needs to learn how to slow the game down at times not try to beat every D 1 on 1 Everytime he gets the puck. Buchinger is very Lukas Cormier like

Interestingly we drafted Cormier’s cousin this year too.

He's an intriguing prospect, gotta love the physical tools. Appreciate the info!

This was one reason I was hoping we would keep Perron. Both are Quebec boys and seem to play a similar style of game. With how Perron came into the league, his tendencies and play style, as well as how he has matured and become even better in his 30+ age, I was hoping Perron could help mentor Bolduc this training camp and beyond. Obviously there are plenty of guys on this roster who can help him learn the NHL game, but Perron just felt like the perfect guy for that role. Oh well, hopefully he can get another year of seasoning and be ready for next year.

I watched scrimmage again tonight on big screen. Really like Buchinger. Obviously a few years away, but those feet really stood out. Best D prospect in scrimmage I thought by big margin.

Snugs seems to have great hands, finds quiet spots like scorers do, thinks game at high level. He is young so hopefully he grows into his body and can improve his skating/agility a bit more. If he does couid be 1st liner. If he doesn’t get quicker still projects as middle 6 guy who can pot 20+.

Bolduc still to me looks like he can be as good as he wants. He was probably too good to show how how good he was out there this morning, if that makes sense. Made some clever passes that guys weren’t able to do anything with. I’d like him to have great camp and push for spot. I don’t think he’s ready to stick, but I think he’d benefit from getting a few games in regular season so hopefully he can force his way into it like neighbours did last year.

Buchinger strikes me as the walmart brand Lukas Cormier. Very similiar skill set and player type. Great feet can push the pace offensively and very comfortable with the puck on his stick. He should thrive in a 3v3 or 4v4 setting. But 5v5 in the D-zone is where it gets murky and I question if his good (skating/puck moving ability) is good enough to outweigh the bad. Like I don’t put him on the same level as Perunovich and obviously we all know the hurdles he’s still trying to overcome at age 23.

He’s definitely a fun project given his ability with his feet and puck skills. Reminds me alot of Krug in that sense. And it’s nice to have atleast 1 non 6’3 project defenseman that’s strength is on the offensive side of things lmao. With that being said I think my favorite dark horse sleeper prospect is Arseniy Koromyslov. He was extremely impressive in the two games of his I watched. Really wish he woulda been at camp. I like his nhl upside a lot more than Beck, Galloway and Gaudet

Don’t disagree. But when was the last time we had 18 year old defenseman with that kinda skill? Vince Dunn? He needs to get stronger and I have no idea if he can defend, but his strengths are intriguing. And do we really think any other d on ice today is likely to be legit NHLer?
