By the way, Gillis has never been a quality for quantity person.

If he has a price, he'll go find it - and it'll be quality.

I don't think you'll get away with some quantity for kesler offer.

Schneider for Horvat
Hodgson for Kassian
Waiting out Luongo for his price, and then not getting it tho.

To me, all signs point to him wanting his price. If all we're getting is atkinson coming back as a main piece, I believe there's 10 teams who will one-up that quite easily - and I like atkinson.

That's cool. We'll go ahead and keep all of our good, young players.

I like Kesler but I don't think he's the guy we need right now, we have Gaborik and Horton... I'd like to see a younger guy picked up for the future if possible.. otherwise sit pat.

Exactly how I feel.

I hate Kesler, but he would be a clear upgrade in our top 9. Nights like last night where the offense dries up and guys act clueless happen a little too often for my liking. and I don't think we really have a productive third line. I'd feel much more comfortable with Kesler in the top 6 than a Jenner or Calvert, to be honest.

I think everyone would, but what would you give up? That's the problem.

Enh. I would be willing to give up Wennberg... so long as absolutely no other top-quality futures are included.

A roster player can be added. Let's say, oh, Anisimov. But that's it. No draft picks higher than a 3rd.

Safe to say you and I don't agree.

I wouldn't give up much for Kessler. He is not the kind of player who is going to vastly improve a team. He is good but not worth selling the future for. Now if it was someone of the quality of Anze Kopitar I'd have a much different view. Having him & Joey as our top 2 centers would be awesome.

My view might also be different if I thought this team had a real chance in the playoffs. At this point, I'm not even sure we have a real good shot at the playoffs.

I'd feel better if we would give Goloubef and Erixon more of a chance.

I think this is the kind of opportunity that doesn't come around very often. One that would allow us to move very few pieces from our existing roster in order to acquire a guy who fits our system, who also is on a very reasonable term. Kesler provides help in two areas of weakness for us — getting the puck on net, and keeping it out of ours with his defensive acumen. Again, I think an upgrade this befitting doesn't come around often and we should pursue it as heavily as possible.

That said, it's not worth it to overpay, but we have valuable assets that Vancouver seemingly would be interested in. Wennberg is completely off the table for me. As far as Jenner is concerned, the only way I involve him is if it's one for one, even then it stings to lose him and I'm not sure I would do it, but I'm sure Jenner alone would be insulting to Vancouver.

My list of pieces I would trade for Kesler includes Anisimov, any pick we own, any prospect outside of Wennberg (not counting Boone or Murray), Savard, Erixon, Nikitin, etc. It'd be hard to trade Cam or Matty, but I'd do it if it got the deal done.

Stolen from the mains for informational purpose:
Bobby mac on tsn radio.

Over 20 teams in the league have inquired on Kesler.

7 Teams have serious interest. Including the oilers, leafs,Red wings, Blackhawks, bruins,Rangers,Columbus.

Also said that he is the most valuable trade deadline target in ages, mostly because of his versatility in every position, and proven playoff an Olympic complete level.

Says that he would be "surprised" if kesler is not traded by the deadline.

Said that keslers value is incredibly high, that would include a top 1st, top prospect, and young roster player (center preferably).

Also said that a "bidding war" would happen as soon as the canucks acknowledge which teams he will play for.
I just don't know at what stage this franchise at.
If they feel like the team is ready to compete they might go after Kesler. I won't do it. He gonna cost a lot.

Not at the stage where we give up good prospects for a guy like Kesler.

Unless the Canucks would take Gaborik, I don't think a deal will happen, especially if this ends up in a bidding war. I'd love for this to happen because I still think Kesler is a perfect fit, but I'm not seeing it could be done without draining our prospect pool.

Just dropping in to say that none of us realistically expect Johansen to be anywhere near in play for Kesler.

I think we both think Wennberg is a future stupendous badass. I just happen to think Kesler can help us more, sooner.

If they'll take some generic other "top prospect" (say, one of the blueline guys), I'd certainly prefer that plus Artie and a 1st over moving Wennberg. But if they want Wennberg... well, I can do it, just under strict limitations as described.

Let's cut to the chase...

How does Kesler feel about the Columbus Zoo?

He's an ex-Buckeye, so obviously he'd be thrilled to be here. It's SCIENCE. ;)

Could Kesler help us sooner? Of course. He is 29 years old. I would hope he can help us sooner. The fact is, Wennberg can help us for the next 10 plus years. I value that A LOT more than Kesler who MAY help us make the playoffs this year. The fact is, we have too many good, young players and prospects to have to include Wennberg to find help.

My big worry is that any deal for Kesler is going to include Dubi. Dubi is a Torts guy and this may be a move by the Canucks front office to get more "torts type" players as well as getting assets to stock the system for when the Sedin's finally fold up.

The biggest problem I have with adding Kesler is that I don't know how much longer he can take the punishment he takes. He's a warrior no doubt, but he's had major injuries the last few years (two torn labrums, broken wrist, broken foot, and a broken hand in Sochi) that when combined with age likely means he will never return to that Selke level form everyone is thinking about when trading for him.

Duby is an untouchable for you?
