We love a good beef in the hockey world.

I think there’s two ways to go here, and neither are really wrong. We all know Laine is not above reproach, he has had his moments where the he has drawn scorn. But that doesn’t mean his comments aren’t without truth. The Blue Jackets have been in the wilderness for their entire existence. They were a rudderless ship in his time there. At times in part because of him, but it doesn’t mean it wasn’t a product of his environment. And if he’s saying it, there are others who think it. It may not be right, but it doesn’t make him wrong.

Werenski obviously has to defend his team and teammates, and I don’t think what was said was to say they were bad teammates to Laine. They have to uphold their own integrity, which I trust exists because they have had a long of Things happen the last few years, which includes Laine himself. And the Blue Jackets have since had their organization turned over.

I was happy Patrik seemed to be turning a corner but not so fast I guess. Instead of thanking the organization and his teammates for helping him through a rough time in his life, he chunks it into the woods? It’s just so tone deaf.

This was so out there, it felt like a scripted WWE heel turn to drive buy rates for an upcoming PPV??

Nothing against Laine, but... er, he strikes me as juvenile and emotionally immature. He is the kind of personality I would keep away from my team.

Anyone else hear Marek's story (I think it was him) who spoke of how Laine loves Fortnight and would buy a big screen TV on the road and just leave it in the hotel when they left?

Sounds to me like Lainey is blaming his past lack of effort on Columbus which is pathetic. Doubt this guy lasts much longer in the league with his combination of poor physical health and attitude.

Another thing is that it just tends to be Finnish culture in general to state what you're thinking bluntly and directly,
Really? As a Finn i think not. Finnish people are Even tempered and politically correct in my opinion

He's just unfiltered. Sometimes it's good. sometimes it's... not so good. Nonetheless, interviewers always get their money's worth from the guy.

He always had this reputation, part of the reason why he made such an impact early on is because he talked a lot of crap and managed to back it up.
Unfiltered is another word for asshole . He also doesn’t appear to be very blessed between the ears.

Laine isn't and has never been the sharpest tool in the shed. It's more like that rather than him just being an asshole or a diva.

Also his mental problems began when his dad died in 2021, his troubles of getting sleep was due to that, not because of video games. As far as i understand, he got great support from his teammates in Columbus so with that in mind, no wonder guys like Werenski think that he betrayed them.
The whole Fortnite thing started years before that. He went on a Fortnite detox in 2018 from what I’m reading. People allegedly knew his account. He would stay up until 7 in the morning playing.

Laine showing exactly why he isn't respected or coveted despite his goal scoring ability. Completely self-absorbed and a terrible influence to have around your young players. Zero effort or dedication to his craft and then has the audacity to call out others for lack of competitiveness. Clearly takes zero ownership over his own career failure, and wants to point the finger at everyone else. You're a flakey, unwanted one trick pony - just shut up and do your one trick.
So he's just like the Maple Leafs?

Ya based on history and reputation he’s probably one of the last guys that should be making those kinds of comments.

This is the kind of comment I would expect if he went to a powerhouse pushing the top of the conference - not Montreal

What a f***ing idiot, why would he say that stuff? They were supposed to show a tribute video last night but cancelled it after the comments, and rightfully so. I thought Laine had gotten his shit together but boy was I wrong.

The team he went to had nothing to do with anything. He was spitting venom on Columbus. As a Habs fan I don’t condone it. I don’t blame the Blue Jackets or their fans for reacting the way they have. It was classless.
