GDT: Blue Jacket vs Capital 6pm (Clinch? + R1 adversary?)

LOL at people here spinning out of control. What the actual f***? Now we’re relying on other teams to do the Habs' job for them? The Habs still control their own fate. I don’t want another team doing their work; I couldn’t care less about the Caps losing to the Jackets, nor do I care about the jackets winning the remainder of their games.

Win the games you need to win, or miss the playoffs. Counting on others to fight their battles is stupid AF, and loser mentality.

Any way you can get in is good. Florida turds got in and won a Cup because Crosby/Malkin shat the bed in the last game. And if the idiots don't dress Demidov because the playoffs aren't clinched that would not be good.

I remember and I also remember that year we had traded Chiarot for Fl’s 1st round pick. Had the Habs managed to win a single game against them during the regular season, Habs would have had a much better pick; instead Habs had to rely on Crosby and Malkin to win that last game and they ended up with what they ended up with - it was well deserved.

Habs traded players to rebuild. There was no reason they should win a game against Florida. But Pittsburgh was the better team and should have won their game if Crosby wasn't crap.

This makes no sense, you can't choke away a playoff spot with a 6-1-1 record no matter how they played to obtain it. That's 13 out of a possible 16 points. In no shape or form is this choking down the stretch.
You can win but play poorly.

Choking is failing to reach the finish line once you are 2 feet from it. That 6-1-1 was getting 2 feet from the finishing line, now they need to cross it and they aren't playing like a club that wants to cross it.

The race ain't over, we're still in the lead precisely because of the 6-1-1 record, what are we even talking about here? Has Columbus gained on us over this 8 game span? No, they've gone 5-3 in their last 8, we have actually distanced ourselves from everyone chasing us over this span, including the blue jackets.

Again it makes no sense! This not choking, talk to me when or if we don't make it or if Columbus passes us.

Choking as f*** all to do with whatever Columbus is doing or how far they are from the Habs.
Choking is how the Habs, and only the Habs, are failing at clinching a playoff spot when they had the opportunity to do so. They failed twice so far and didn't look hungry at all which they should have in those situation. They even had a two days break before the Sens games, their longest before the end of the season.

Does anyone have any f***ing logic on this board?

In sports, choking is the failure of a person, or persons, to act or behave as anticipated or expected. This can occur in a game or tournament that they are strongly favoured to win, or in an instance where they have a large lead that they squander in the late stages of the event. It can also refer to repeated failures in the same event, or simply imply an unexpected failure when the event is more important than usual.

Thankyou for proving my point. lol They haven't squandered anything in fact they've enhanced their probabilty, by gaining more points than those chasing them.

Repeated failures gimme a break, they lost to Ottawa, 1st time this season and took the Atlantic division leaders to overtime, unless you thought they were favourites going into these contests and were fully expecting and anticipating a sure victory. I suppose they should be 8-0 instead of 6-1-1?

The "Choke" you're referring to is the last two games. A loss and an OTL. Two games, back to back, after the Habs won six straight. The last game was tight as hell and the Habs played a very solid, determined game, and came thisclose to an OT win. Disappointing? Of course. A 'choke'? No.

Let's not get hysterical. They weren't going to win every game, no matter how hungry they were. If they can't get it done tonight and/or Wednesday, at that point we can talk about choking.

Players don't go on the ice thinking "we won the last 6 games, we can lose this one instead of clinching tonight".

The Sens games was the Habs best opportunity to clinch a playoffs spot. It was their last 2 days rest before season end, gave them about a week off to rest players who clearly need it. They had won both their games against them this season making them the favorite. It was the game they should have shown hungry for...they looked tired instead.

Leafs game was a programmed loss. Still, only two lines recording shots on net and Dvorak's line had 1 is something. Something bad.

Tonight is the Hawks. People are acting like Habs should easily beat the Hawks. What will be your excuse if they lose tonight?

Canes is similar to Leafs, but 4th game in 6 days instead.

The good news out of this is Washington sucks at playing hockey right now. Without Protas, they are an average team. Their D is average at best and goalies are average also.

The only thing they have on us right is depth but with Demidov coming in, it's a huge boost in that department.

Their current goalies are their backup and a bad AHL goalie. Thompson is injured too, not just Protas.
