Games Tonight Affecting Sens

Yea, it's often a tiny margin to make the playoffs or not. We definitely could have made it in other years if things had broken one way vs the other. We just had everything break against us multiple years in a row.

So nice to not stress about the scores of 5 different games per night now that we made it. I haven't followed that many teams in years.

I'm glad you're not stressed anymore, but I have been saying for weeks now that the impact of other games was so marginal it wasn't worth tracking.

Whos disagreeing with terrible management?

I think Habs have the roster to do exactly what they’re doing now. And it helps that Montana ultimately has emerged as a legit goalie.

I think the sens could have done what they doing in 21-22. But we have DJ smith and shite goalies
Is Martin St-Louis really doing a better job than DJ Smith did defensively?

I think just Habs have solid goaltending and good finishing this season. They also got their cupboards full for the future.

Maybe he isn’t.

Would be interesting to compare 24-25 Habs defence to 22-23 Sens defence.

Last year doesn’t matter korpisalo was not going to let us do anything.

Ugh....

Chabot-Zub
Sanderson-Hamonic
Brannstrom-Holden
extras JBD-Zaitsev

vs

Hutson-Struble
Matheson-Carrier
Guhle-Savard
Xhejak

I'd give the edge to Mtl tbh, everyone except maybe Xhejak is better than Hamonic, JBD and Zaitsev, arguably Brannstrom too. Most are better than Holden that year too.

I meant defensive metrics haha.

And remember we got chychrun towards the end of the year

Oh, sorry, I thought you meant personnel since that's what the coaches have to work with. Yeah, we had Chychrun for 12 games, not going to have a big impact because of the sample I suspect,

MTL(25) vs Ott (23)

GA/60 2.78 vs 2.82
xGA/60 2.87 vs 2.63
SCA/60 29.4 vs 29.12
HDCA/60 12.12 vs 11.76

Ottawa having the advantage in all those metrics except actual goals against.

Yeah the biggest thing for the Habs is Montambahlt emerging as a goalie. And doves solid backup

The only watching we had was the Panthers and they have won (despite being without some of their top players) enough to ensure we will finish in a wildcard spot.

Tonight will go a long way to determining which wildcard spot.

Yea we'll know who they want to play based on how they come out tonight. If they have no energy again, even after the last game, then they want WSH.

I'm not so sure it's all about energy.

The team, outside of the goaltenders, have been in a bit of a funk for a while now.

I think we need the PK to be on fire tonight, and the PP to finally get going.

5 on 5 we should be alright.

I think this thread can be closed now and the discussions brought back to the Around the NHL thread...

It seems we agree on all this. The discussion was more about your initial point "People act like the Habs are waaay ahead of schedule". My fault though, I'm very slow to answer these days as I am not spending much time on HF.

Can never trust this team and we got lucky that all of the teams chasing us played 500 hockey for a month.

This team is more professional now, we are slowly but surely getting away from DJ Dorion hockey.

Had a dream Columbus was down a goal and then pulled their goalie to tie it and the other teams goalie Was making incredible save after incredible save to seal the win

lol remember when Torts pulled his goalie last year to get the RW (not knowing the Flyers were already eliminated regardless) and essentially got Detroit eliminated by allowing a Caps goal?

Isles have a chance to do some very funny shit to help CBJ win and play spoiler

I want to be clear, I'll be watching the Charolette Checkers vs Montreal Toilet Seats closely tonight...and I'll be watching the Columbus vs NYI's even more closely tomorrow should Les Seats des Toilettes lose tonight.

And if Montreal manages to choke themselves out of the playoffs then the "Olay, Olay, olay" post I put up on Montreals forum will be PAGE(au)S long!! Troll Stomper will get carpal tunnel in his "flaming" button finger!!

And I will sleep like a baby, knowing the tears of Montreal Fans are there to cushion my fall from grace.
