Does anyone know why there is a sizeable "True north" at bomber games during the anthem?

I found it odd, given that the chant originated as an ode to True North for bringing the NHL back to the city, and they also own and operate the NHL team in the city, but did they do something for the Bombers as well or are people just yelling it out as some sort of conditioned response

People yell it out all over the place. I've heard it every where during the anthem.

I used to yell it out at Jets games in Calgary when they’d come visit, because I always attributed it to the Jets - but never when the bombers would visit

I should mention last night was one of the very, very few bomber games I’ve been to at IGF (and holy moly is that stadium incredible and in a several levels of different caliber when compared to McMahon lol) and it confused me a bit. Someone else at the stadium commented on it as well so I wasn’t alone with those thoughts

I know IGF took a bit of heat when it opened for deficiencies and what was wrong like location but at the end of day it is a spectacular venue for football.

haha - fair enough

I guess there are some people wearing Jets gear at Bombers games too so, that would make sense

I was pretty blown away...the feeling when you walk into the stadium is incredible. I was up on the 200 level, first time, and the view was magnificent. At least thats how I felt. Also the fact those "nosebleed" seats are actual comfortable seats and are not concrete benches that probably do more harm to the rear end than anything else...

It felt much larger in scale than McMahon despite having similar seating capacity, and the bathrooms and food were way above my expectations. I went with a Lions fan too, who was also very impressed with the stadium. We both commented on that feeling when you first walk into the stadium and theres tens of thousands of people...wow.

I'm only comparing it because 95% of the Bomber games i've seen in person and not on TV were not in Winnipeg, and IGF is quite spectacular. It was also nice to be surrounded by people cheering for the same team  (my friend aside)

It's a great stadium to spend a warm summer evening. I prefer the atmosphere and game day experience at Bombers games more than Jet games. They've done an excellent job with fan experience! No better place to enjoy our warm summer nights and watch some good football.
As for McMahon, they to rip that apart and build a nice stadium like WPG and SASK have done.
Great to hear you enjoyed it!

B.C. is terrible. Jennings is a joke and the fact that the TSN guys keep kissing his buttocks is laughable. Bombers take out the trash against weaker teams. More of this next week please.

Suitor and Cuthbert are painful. So many mistakes... “Bombers looking for their first win of the season” “Greg Nevis” “Tyler Loffler”

Oline has not been talked about, which is always a good thing! They've been stellar!
honestly, this is such a damn good team. they just need to either pull it together on D or make a few changes. i can't wait to see what they do in the back half of the season.
the past 2 seasons have also been incredibly entertaining. yeah yeah, i want a championship. but these regular season games have mostly been great to watch.

Yes. And our backup can finally play. I want us to peak at right time, grab second place, host playoff game but peak in the end.

So, finishing first is undesirable? Unattainable? Perhaps even...

Looks like BC will have a real chance this weekend. Sounds like Lulay will be in action. If he can last at least 3 quarters BC will have a chance this week.

Confirmed now, Lulay will start. It will be a much tougher challenge for Bombers tommorrow.

Bombers released their depth chart with some interesting changes, most notably on D. On offense only notable is that Lafrance heads back to IR with Augustine drawing in. On D CB Alexander who has been on roster but scratched due to injury last two weeks moves to IR this week to make room to bring in Wild. Likely due to Fenner not having practiced this week at all and remains questionable. Tyneil Cooper is listed as field side starting CB over TC standout Marcus Sayles who got an INT in his first game against Hamilton, but has mostly been underwhelming. This depth chart might mean nothing though since Leggett has practiced this week back at his old WLB spot with Fenner out despite still being listed at HB, meaning the secondary could be very mixed by the time the ball is kicked off.

I dunno about it being more of a challenge with Lulay starting.
The guy is 35 years old and hasn't played in almost a year. He's old and slow and the Lions O-line is brutal.
