Kids playing not crappy vets who have no business on an NHL roster at this point and a GM who actually looks to improve roster around Bedard

The fact this team is as rotten as last year's says a lot about KD and his plan. His signings as GM have been atrocious for most part and have been detrimental to building NHL roster

A GM who seems to have no ability to judge NHL talent is a major issue for this franchise right now

I felt the same thing. So many great chances. A little puck luck and we would have won that going away. Next year bring up kk and big A and we don’t need a single vet D except as a 7th for experience purposes

These loser points lately are getting a bit frustrating, 3 in the last 4 games.

I'm not too worried about it. There's such a small guarantee of drafting 1st overall anyway, as long as we finish close to the bottom we'll be fine. There's so much luck involved with all of these possible outcomes anyway.

San Jose out tanking us is frustrating but man I can't believe Buffalo is where they are at this point. High draft pick after high draft pick all to get them absolutely nowhere. They should at the very least be doign what Detroit and Montreal are right now, competing for a wild card spot. If this is where the Hawks are at 3 years from now we'll have some big problems.

Buffalo happens when you have bad coaches like you said. But more importantly, it is the inability to fill gaps in your team in Free Agency. Buffalo has to grow their own and try to retain them. They've failed miserably at retention-- Eichel, and they cannot sign an FA to save their lives.

Hawks have an Original 6 rebuild. They can attract a good coach and good FAs to supplement the homegrown kids. I wouldn't compare failed rebuilds like EDM or Buffalo to Chicago.

The trap O6 Rebuilds fall in is the Toronto trap. Just because a John Tavares wants to sign with you doesn't mean you always should (cautionary tale for those who want a JT Miller, Rantanen, Boeser or whoever else). And they went Offense first with their draft picks, Chicago already getting it right by going D first.

There are other ways to get better then just tanking and hoping you get the next Kane, Bedard, etc. It would be nice if this team spent some money on quality FAs, or make some trades that actually return value. Not every prospect they have will turn into a superstar and while tonight was nice, the nights the "kids" look good have been few and far between. Surrounding them with trash isn't helping their development I'm sure.

They're last in the league and their last playoff series win (excepting the covid play-in round) was when they last won the Cup. That's inexcusable. But I guess if the building is still full most nights and 98 jerseys are selling like hotcakes why bother putting a better product on the ice?

Another game tonight where they got outworked and outshot to death and the goalie at least saved a point despite the blown lead.

Quality FAs to do what, exactly? Help them get to the middle faster? I don't see the logic.

It's real simple: you draft elite talent. It's not hard. Yeah, there is a bit of luck at play but you have to have the picks and be in a position to draft high to get the luck. They've already gotten lucky on Bedard.

The kids? Davidson's first draft was 2022. Most of the kids he's drafted haven't appeared in an NHL game, let alone are old enough or experienced enough to make an impact. The vets on the team this year were brought in specifically to endure the suck and keep the kids down in Rockford longer. But nah, can't have that on this board because you have whiney man-babies who are stupid or willfully blind to what's happening.

To the bolded specifically, you can thank the old GM for that. He did all the things you want Davidson to do and what did it get them? Hmm? Oh right.

Again, the Hawks are 2 and a half years into a scorched earth rebuild. Get on the train or go spend your time doing something else for a couple years, or cheer for another team. Figure it out.
