Hello fine HFBoard'ers,

This thread is for three purposes but I imagine it will die quickly unless infighting engulfs the thread into a spicy hateball of entertainment.

1. Let's hear about the best Hawks stuff you have. What is your favorite jersey you own? Most unique piece of memorabilia?
2. Where do you get your Hawks merch? Best places in town and online?
3. Selfish ask: has anyone ever come across a black, C & tomahawk hat? Not the fake C and tomahawk like you see on all the merch, but like the actual C and tomahaks with the serif. If you don't know the difference, here are the two side by side.

Favorite: Probably the black/white Winter Classic jersey from 2019 (Notre Dame.)

From where: Anywhere. Blackhawks store, Dicks, Pure Hockey, Clark St, Wrigleyville, etc. Gunzo's used to be the place to go but I haven't been there in ages.

Hat: I haven't seen one that I can remember. You may need to buy a black hat and have someone sew on the shoulder patch.

Favorite: I have countless Hawks jerseys. One of my favorites is a Winter Classic Panarin jersey (who was subsequently traded the following year :thumbd:). I also have a Toews Winter Classic and a Sharp Winter Classic jersey from when they played Detroit. I bought a red Kane jersey from the NHL shop his rookie year and of course I had to buy a red Bedard haha. Hard to pick the favorite out of them all tbh. I guess currently it's Bedard?

From where: Ahhhh I have a few from NHL.com, I have a few knockoffs too. I find the easiest way to spot a knockoff is the Logo in the front is noticeably smaller. I tended to wear those while I play beer league hockey. Been on the IR for like 10 years though :surrender

Hat: I think I actually may own the exact hat you're speaking of, actually. When I get home from work I'll have a look and see if it's the one you're speaking of.

I love my 2009 Winter Classic Toews jersey. Has to be one of my faves. I feel like a chunk of their event jerseys since have been lackluster.

Agree about CB98 being my favorite right now. Can't wait to rock it on the regular. :naughty:

The knockoffs are always a weird, pinker shade of red to me. You can spot them a mile away and they always have the skin color of the logo lighter than normal. Grinds my gears when I see folks with them on but I get it, because the regular jerseys are dang expensive for what they are.

Went into Dicks at the weekend, and they seem to be selling Bedard jerseys with the old style collar. Unless I'm missing something?

Yeah I would never run the risk of wearing a 300+ dollar jersey when I would play pick-up hockey. One time one of my friends didn't have a jersey to put on so I told him he could wear my white knock-off Duncan Keith jersey and while we were playing he caught an errant high-stick in the face and bled all over the jersey. There was nothing he could do and like I said it was a knock-off I paid maybe 40 or 50 dollars for?

I have seen my fair share of hilariously bad knock-offs too. I remember going to watch the Hawks play Montreal in Montreal in 2015 and there was a fan there who was wearing like a blacked out Subban jersey that had the lettering done in bold comic sans serif text. Game was a 5-0 beatdown by the Hawks too talk about money well spent.

I really hated that collar. The new one isn't perfect either but it seems to be an improvement. I hope those jerseys were on one hell of a sale, considering he will never even wear that.
 
Favourite is my authentic signed Brent Seabrook jersey. Got it from a friend as a gift for being such a good person :).

Have a couple knock off Toews jerseys, and a boat load of random memorabilia that's pretty unique but way too many things to list.

That's actually fairly impressive to only have that. Are you a relatively new fan of the team or a minimalist?

I think from being a fan since I was a kid, it was impossible to not collect Hawks merch (junk) over the years.
 
I have few key pieces of memorabilia. I have signed player card Stan Mikita sent me early 1970. I worked as vendor at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver the year the Canucks entered league. I had number of Hawks autograph Canuck program. The program is dated Feb 16, 1971. Top seat in house? $6.50 Canadian.

Even with The Capitals I only have a skull cap. And I'm a new fan since 2021. Visited Chicago back in 2019 for Star Wars Celebration, to do a podcast, and fell in love with the area. Ever since, Chicago has been my home away from home. And The Bears are my favorite and number one football team.

Where do I begin? Red Kane jersey that I unregretably ruined by having multiple Stanley Cup patches attached to it, a Crawfor winter classic, a Toews St.Patricks day, a DeBrincat (different) St. Patrick's day, an official home Esposito, a Kane NYR jersey (shut up...), a Hossa away jersey, a Panarin Hockey Fights Cancer, a Niemi away. That's off the top of my head, I'd have to go dig deep in the closet to fine the rest.

I also have an old school Hawks ball cap, Indian head on a black crown with a red brim.

Entirely too many t-shirts to count. My wife hates the majority of my weekend wardrobe. Most of them are oil stained with armpit holes.

Not that I have any hate in my heart for "bandwagon" Hawks fans, but I was a fan back during the bill Wirtz era, and I've got mixed feelings about having given him my money. My saving grace was I was too young and therefore poor to buy jerseys back then. Waiting to see if Bedard actually rocks 98 this season then I'll buy his jersey too 🙄

Edit: Just realized I didn't answer your question. My favorite is my home Kane jersey with 3 Stanley Cup patches awkwardly descending down the chest. No shame, 3 cups, haters can seethe.

Got them most (not all) from a jersey store in the Bolingbrook promenade. Others online.

My wife's favorite apparel is actually a Canucks hoodie I picked up when I lived in Vancouver for a minute way back in the day. It's super roomy and soft even over a decade later.

Bought my son a Bedard shirsey at the Michigan Avenue store over the weekend. Didn’t get one for me, as they were completely sold out of XL’s for Bedard, which according to the store staff routinely happens as they can’t keep that size in stock.

Lots of my fellow slightly chunky boys buying Bedard gear.

Lot of Big Boi Bedard Fans. Love to see it. I've heard a lot of places can't keep common sized jerseys in for the Hawks due to Bedard. Going to be insane the amount of money this kid will generate for this club and he hasn't even played a game yet.

Unrelated: Does anyone know why the Hawks have two different C & tomahawk logos? I've never understood the existence of the sans serif version.

CHGO Blackhawks had a guest on a few weeks ago that runs a Hawks uniform history website. Can’t remember the name of it but the answer to your question might be there or maybe you can ask him through the site.

The CHGO guys interviewed Danny and Faulkner a couple of days ago and were apparently told the black jerseys will return in the future.

This season, next season? Who knows, but they will be back.

I imagine they'll do it next year after everyone already has a red Bedard jersey. No use cannibalizing your own sales.

They said not this year and likely not next year either. But yea potentially after that they'll be back. NHL still crossing the i's and dotting the t's with Fanatics.
