Tonight will be the last time the Kings wear their black and purple jerseys.

Are you bummed, excited, or meh?

I like the way they look, but ultimately it brings back a lot of bad memories for the Kings to wear them and I'm glad they're going away.

I thought they were great jerseys. I'm going to be there tonight...hoping to pick one up in the LA KINGS store (50% off all those jerseys tonight).

I am bummed. I dislike the new logo, and these jerseys were unique (the only team to use purple, and the LA wording along the bottom)
I hope they at least improve the current set with a white hem stripe on the home.

You missed the option I would choose.
Good because that means the Forum blue and gold comes back.
And I can actually get one that is a Reebok edge authentic without having to break the bank at Meigray.

Yes but for different reasons. I never liked those jerseys. they should have never changed from the Chevy logo.

But now that Ron Swanson mentions it: other than some good years of Luc and Ziggy, the 01 playoff run , and the 01 playoff run, I'd like to forget about those jerseys and those years

Good. They should have retired these jerseys a couple seasons ago. I'm glad it's finally happening..

I agree. If it gets us one step closer to bringing back the purple and gold full time at home with some kind of white, purple, and gold version for the roadies, I'm all for it.

Next step is to scrap black as a primary color for the Kings forever.

So glad they're being retired. It's been 15 years since the Kings adopted those colors, and most of that time was full of failures, like this one.

I associate those colors with a dark era of Kings hockey, the broken down and fragile Andy Murray/Dave Taylor era. The players like the black/silver look, as do most fans. I like it as well since it isn't too busy like the previous sets. And the purple/gold being adopted as the alternates next season is a big bonus for ditching the black/purple.

The jerseys were a decent design, but like the poll says, I associate it with a really rough time as a fan (with a handful of exciting moments).

Part of me wishes they would use the large crown on the current jerseys though. 2011 Dustin Brown agrees...or at least he did before winning the Cup in the current jerseys (http://kings.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=66737)
"Wat is your favorite Kings jersey of all-time?" -- Corey

Brown: "One that doesn't exist! Take our current logo of the crown & take out the purple and put it on our black 3rd jerseys."

Glad they're gone. Like the 1,2 and 3 they have going forward. Waiting for the 3rds to go on sale to the public.

Who knows maybe Reebok will get off their ass and be making jerseys in the off season this year. So we can actually get them. But I'm not counting on it.

I agree with Brown. The logo on our jerseys sucks. The crown is way better.

i liked these jerseys but if given purple/black or vintage purple/gold as the third, i would pick the vintage.

Leave the purple to the Lakers.

You mean the blue, right? Because the Lakers adopted purple after Jack Kent Cooke was awarded an NHL franchise, named it the Kings and decided the colors would be Forum Blue (purple) and Gold.

Cooke then had the Lakers adopt those same colors and they wore them in the season before the Kings' inaugural season.

The Lakers wore blue and white until the Kings came along and had them switch to match the Kings' colors.

I personally think the crown stinks. It's too cheesy/cartoony looking with the hockey sticks on top. If they were to switch to a crown logo, I hope they come up with a new design. I much prefer the crown on the vintage uniforms.

Agree wholeheartedly. Get rid of home plate, use a simpler and slightly smaller version of the crown, and that would be the best way to go.

Leave the purple to the Lakers.

That is such a misguided thing to say. The Lakers started wearing the colors one year before the Kings. And guess what the franchise was already awarded and the colors chosen at that time. Same owner, same building, same colors.
Those colors are as much ours as the Lakers. I don't care that we stopped wearing them for a time and they continued.

Hadn't seen someone already said the same thing just saw the post.

Yes, but I would make the current crown simpler without the cheesiness. I wouldn't go back in time to the original crown because its too noisy as well. You can make a slightly smaller crown, aluminum with some white and black streaks thrown in and that would work, I believe.

The Kings won the Cup wearing black and white. I can't see it ever going away again.

Has any Cup winning team ever made a major uniform color change after winning the Cup?

But the Lakers were the ones that symbolized that color scheme (at least in pro sports). I don't have a problem with going back to the old purple and gold as our primary logo. But I'm REALLY fine with just black, white, and silver. We shouldn't have imitated the Sacramento Kings, though.
