can't use the excuse either of 'dark period' for the franchise. if that's the case you could say the same for someone like DET through the 70-80s-early 90s until they turned it around. nobody in the world with a sound mind would ever retire the winged wheel jersey, because of that reasoning. i despise DET, but love and respect that uniform.
LA's biggest failure is never establishing a tradition based on the team's logo, colors and uniform. they hit the reset to often for this to happen and now are to the point of a generation of fans not knowing what the past history of the club is when it comes to its own identity.
Kind of unrelated but the Reading Royals logo is pretty darn cool!
*Shrug*
Disagree. I still think they were the best looking of any of our jerseys, and I couldn't care less who did or didn't play in them. If they'd have just changed the glitter to straight up silver-grey they'd be perfect. And they can do whatever the hell they want with the logo, as long as there is a crown in there somewhere. The current ones on the other hand, while not necessarily ugly, are just completely boring. I doubt I'll ever buy one.
One more thing to add that I hated about the purple/black jerseys. The glitter and LOS ANGELES written across the lower portion of the jersey. What were they thinking?

The Royal Half pretty much nailed it.

It's a sad day today. The beginning of a new era in the NHL. One in which no team employs that great color between blue and red.
Sixteen teams wear blue. Thirteen wear red. None wear purple.
I am of course referring to the fact that the Los Angeles Kings officially retired purple from their color palette last night.
But even as we mourn this death, I am hopeful. Hopeful because the last time the Kings extinguished purple (yes, it's happened before in 1988),
it was resurrected briefly less than eight seasons later ...
It was nice knowing you, purple. Rest in peace. (Because you'll be back soon enough. )
I like the mock up above, though I'd be curious to see it without the shoulder stripe and a white helmet.
your opinion ... we all get to have one ... and as such one could just as easily say that icethetics pretty much nailed it
