BioSteel replacing Gatorade as NHL official sports drink

BioSteel isn't a "hipster" brand, it's a high performance brand that is growing. I'd say it's only really common in the athlete world, especially hockey. I've only recently seen their products in grocery stores. It's not like Gatorade, which is mainly for fat people who want to pretend they are athletes, but don't want to drink water because they need to have 40g of sugar in every drink they have.
It's also for old folks like me, who get periodic colonoscopy exams & need to cover up some of the nasty flavor of the procedure prep liquid. 🤮

Is BioSteel still owned by Canopy Growth? Whose parent company is Constellation Brands which owns Modelo and Corona as well as many other brands. One of the beverage giants.

If that is the case then Canopy probably threw lots of money at this. They sink tons of money into SG&A.

I tried some biosteel the other day. i dunno about the health benefits. but flavourwise. and i'm not saying it's shit, just saying of all the non alcoholic drinks i ingest. it's at the bottom. I would probably rank a non alcohol beer below it. i have had other drinks i would rank below it. but i don't drink those on the regular. like soda water. i would definitely drink biosteel over soda water.

Hockey fans are so quick to cover up for the NHL but you can't deny the brand power of Gatorade. If you see commericals with NFL, NBA, and MLB players in a commercial together but the NHL is left out that takes them out of the mainstream eye to casuals. Gatorade won't be the be all end all but it's definitely up there in terms of sports branding. Not saying that not having them is going to cripple the league but the league needs to get as much visibility as they can including in Gatorade commericals. Literally ever sport has a Gatorade poster boy.
Yeah the excuse and hoop jumping is mind boggling

Not one person will be either attracted to or repelled from the NHL based on the “official sports drink” of the league.

Literally not one single person anywhere on earth. It’s that insignificant.
No it’s the marketing behind it . Gatoraid is a major mainstream brand that both sport and non sports know. They make commercials , posters etc of major athletes . The nhl is left out of a the marketing prowess of major MAINSTREAM
brand for a brand that not even in the top 10 that doesn’t do nothing to push nhl star players

Funny, I was actually thinking about this thread the other day and all the doom and gloom naysayers in it when I was watching some basketball and noticed that many NBA teams are also now sponsored by BioSteel.

Yup. They've been adding the big market teams as part of their package.

They sponsored the Blue Jays last season and the product was provided in the home and visitor dugouts.

NHL barely got any love anyways from Gatorade so whats your pt? Its not like they caused a spike in ratings

If NHL wanted to expand they should have partnered with Prime from Logan Paul and KSI

Those twi have a huge reach and would bring more attention to the NHL

My 12 year old is obsessed with Prime, despite it not even being officially for sale in Canada.

My 47 year old self had never heard of the stuff until my kid brought some home from a grey-market importer.

Supposedly one of my kid's classmates makes his own home-made "Prim" (no "E") and is making a killing selling it to their classmates.

BioSteel is f***ing weird.

After the first sip, I cringed and thought about throwing the rest out.

By the third or forth sip, I liked it. I drink around one a day for electrolytes and just to change it up from seltzer.

I’d be lying if I said the constant branding I see on NHL broadcasts isn’t what led to me trying it. I would have never thought to pick up something with that name otherwise.
