Biggest problem

Wherever I'm standing atm
There are about 7-10 main reasons people have used to explain why we are so dissappointing. I really just want to see as a whole what the fanbase thinks is the chief reason. I've made my reason clear. I'll vote, explain my choice if I get a chance though I've done it plenty around here and that's about it.

I don't think we should argue back and forth. I personally don't think Lundqvist or the Nash trade are part of the problem at all but I recognize others think that so all options including the recent optional practice theory are being put up.
Again this is to vote on what you think the MAIN issue is I think we all agree it's a combo of a few things. But the purpose is to pick what you think the main culprit is and explain why you think it's the main culprit.

I suspect the 4 biggest vote getters will be Rich/Gabs, Torts, FA losses and the Nash trade in that order.

Me personally I think losing 130+ points b/t two players (rich and gabs) is the killer. We are dead last in GF tho we continue to be one of the best in GA and every game is so close. So much money tied up in both as well. I think both got old and lost their skill and didn't tune up for the season tho Gabs injury may have cost him months of potential tuning idk. I thank gabs for what he's done as a Ranger though even though I think he stinks out loud this year.

I think Nash more than makes up for either one of Dubs and anisimov. Even if you want to for some reason say it's an even swap Anisimov for Nash it's on Sather to replace Dubs, prust and Feds. Not many seemed to have a problem with Pyatt, Halp and Ash and I think most of us feel Powe is an upgrade over Rupp...unfortunately all have floundered....could it be Torts then?

So lots of valid options here that intertwine but it's up to you to select which is the biggest. Remember folks Bickle counts as other!

If this poll does well I could do a prospects style thing where aftr we vote for our #1 reason we vote on #2. Then 3. Etc

Richards and Gaborik severely under-performing, along with our poor bottom 6 and Torts not changing the system somewhat due to the personnel changing.

I could see Torts getting it or even the FA which falls on Sather. I think either of Rich/ gabs, Torts or FA/Sather could be the winner for good reason. As you can tell I clearly think it's Rich/Gabs both ar evets and both have produced even in Torts system they unfortunately seem to have gotten old.

Cheater they are all to blame but which is the biggest!? I think it comes down to people saying Gabs and Rich are their own worst enemy or it's torts fault they can't get it this year and both are valid. I think even if the bottom guys were performing better without those two at the top we'd only have about 4 more wins. If those two were playing like last year I think we have about 9 more
 
The team doesn't hit anymore, so I chalk that up to inadequate FA/prospect replacements.

I wrote my post in order of severity. :)

Gabs and Rich under-performing is the biggest factor.
 
Without a doubt, Richie and Gaborik. You have almost 15 mil tied up in players who get gobs of ice time, don't score and are defensive liabilties. Yes, the 3rd and 4th lines stink, and I can't stand the Tortarella grind it out style, but those are afterthoughts. It would be nice if our bottom six could contribute more than just eating minutes and defense, but we're holding teams to 2 or three goals a game consistently, if we'd score a goal or be able to score on the flower play, we wouldn't be having this poll.

Anyone who says the Nash trade is nuts. Picking where we pick in the draft, we almost never get a shot at someone with that level of talent and star power. Remember, he's doing what he's doing as our only threat to score - if Richie or Gabs could pot some goals, Nash would have tons more room to do what he does best and he'd be unstoppable.

Guys like Dubi, Artie, Prust were very valuable and we haven't replaced what they brought, and that';s a problem. But that is fixable in the long-run.

I think this team will be much better next year with Fasth, maybe some of the kids from the farm, new FA's, experience for Miller (yes, he belongs in the AHL right now, but he is undeniably an NHLer) and Kreider, etc., replacing the dead wood on the team - Boyle, Pyatt, Asham, Newbury, etc. And, yes, I think Torts has worn out his welcome.
 
FA losses and inadequate signings.

We didn't have great depth last year (see the playoffs). This offseason should have been a chance to actually craft a good third line that can help produce and a 4th one that can forecheck and chip in here and there, but mostly take up minutes so the top guys aren't exhausted.

Sather failed big time at this. Gabby and Richie underperforming has a lot to do with the lack of success this season but we've needed a great 3rd line for a LONG time and Sather hasn't done jack **** in that regard. If gabs/richie were performing well we'd still need that in the playoffs where it truly matters.

We lost "heart and soul" guys like Dubinsky and Prust who would fight for their teammates. I mean sticking up for one another and letting the opposition know "you don't **** with the New york Rangers". Being TOUGH to play against. Pyatt, Halpern (while he was here), Powe, and Asham just aren't the same. You can't look at Dubi/Prust's production and say "well we got the same points out of X so they are replaced". We don't have a Dubi or Prust, we have replacement players who don't give a ****.

This team has become a bunch of random players thrown together and pushed out onto the ice. No identity. No heart.

Beaver and Ghost not showing up. Especially Beaver. Your supposed 1C can't be playing like this. Some could argue that's the most important position in hockey. Well, there you have it.

Torts' system is a close 2nd.
 
I'd go as far to say Richards mainly. With his **** play, Gaborik doesn't have his center, and Nash is pretty much zeroed in every game.

There was a time, when Gaborik scored 40 goals with Erik Christensen as his center... But yeah, Richards and Gaborik underperforming is the main reason why we are where we are. However, the lack of any offensive system other than dump and chase plays just as a big role as well.

Because Christensen was playing way better than Richards is now. Is almost useless for stretches of games. At least Gaborik has moments where he looks good without scoring. Richards can look awful in games he does score in.

I have to disagree. Neither was Christensen significantly better than Richards even now, nor does Gaborik have many moments where he looks good without scoring. At least not more than Boyle, Pyatt or other deadweight on this team.

Richards is so putrid right now, I don't know how you can say that EC wasn't better. Richards is the worst player on the team not named Pyatt. At least in Gaborik's invisible games he will float around. Richards is a turnover machine. J.T. Miller might actually have a picture of Brad in a heart locket around his neck.
 
Voted Torts because he is responsible for the other big issue: Gaborik and Richards not performing
