Biggest No Shows for teams eliminated

Do you watch the Habs???????????? Other than the first line all forwards were garbage offensively all year.
Were they going to change in the playoffs.

I literally have a picture of Andrei Kostitsyn as an avatar, what do you think. We could've gotten a Fernando Pisani run out of someone. There's plenty of example of secondary players stepping up big time during playoffs.

Kopitar and Doughty as always. Both are reliably out of gas by Game 4 of these series and this year was no exception. Byfield after the first 2 games was not good at all.

And the Kings entire 4th line and 3rd pair were literally no-shows, through no fault of their own.

Feels like that's on the coach. Lets play a suffocating style of hockey but we won't use our 4th line so our older 1C and 1D inevitably get tired from overplaying them.

Didn’t get to watch Canes/Devils but Devils PP disappeared.

Matheson was absolute garbage game 1 and 2

Laine was playing hurt, so it's hard to evaluate how he would have truly done, but he was baaaaad while he was with the team

Savard was clearly done

Those would be the worst IMO

Anyone saying Anderson and Gallagher have to stop sniffing gas, it's not good for you

Guys who play that style always show up when the playoffs come around. The games get nasty and they step up to prove their worth. I can keep referencing the Isles but the 4th line they had during those 2 conference finals runs were part of the reason why they made it that far. Tampa’s Gourde/Coleman/Goodrow line was just the right mix of nasty and goal scoring.

As a neutral - I didn't find Matheson that bad, his stats don't even show much, only a -1.

Thought Caufield and Demidov we're quiet and quite bad defensively. Both -6 and -5 respectively.

From NJ - I expected more from Jesper Bratt.
From Tampa - I expected more from Kucherov

Joke aside he really didn't. He played 251 games out of 328 in the last 4 regular seasons, and zero games in these playoffs. $8M is nothing for a player of his calibre. But only when he actually plays.
He needs to slow down just a little bit, he keeps getting hurt because he's so reckless.

You're always curious about the injury report after the series is over.

But as far as no-shows are concerned, I think the biggest disappointment for me was Claude Giroux.

Faceoffs were a big factor in the series, and as the league's top faceoff man in the regular season at around 61%, he didn't have that kind of impact.

Seeing a veteran like David Perron working his tail off and fighting to the net, you just didn't see the same commitment from Claude, who had a lackluster (for him) season as well.

It's possible that Giroux finally fell off the proverbial cliff that awaits all players eventually.

Drake Batherson is another guy who seemed to be playing firewagon hockey out there in a series where neither team was.

Inconsistent dedication to defence and some truly bizarre decision-making really cost his team at key points during the series.

Gonna be Marner, Nylander, and Matthews soon. A combined 3 goals from all of them in 5 games. Elite
Point... and the Toronto Trio.
They just need more experience, they won 1 round in their first decade in the NHL, think of how sweet it's gonna be watching 60 year old Auston/Mitch and Willie finally bring a cup back to Toronto!

Thread about eliminated teams, talk about a team very much not eliminated and not even eligible to be eliminated at the time of postings.

BTW

Matthews, Marner, and Nylander combined for 5 points last night.

Lightning injuries:

Bjorkstrand: (too complicated to write)
Cirelli: MCL Sprain Game 1
Glendening: AC Joint separation
Gourde: Broke a finger Game 1
Hagel: Concussion
Hedman: Broke foot Game 4
Kucherov: Suffered an injury in Feb he was managing
Paul: Tear in left wrist

Ivan Demidov, who just weeks ago we were told was the second coming of Mario Lemieux, Wayne Gretzky and Guy Lafleur combined, hit the scoresheet in one out of 5 games (2 assists) and played horrific defense.

I will feed, because we know your shtick, but only to give some context. You can't expect too much from a rookie with not enough time to practice with the team, in order to learn their system, especially during the playoffs. Also, he looked better as the series progressed.

Yes, a 19 year old who arrived from Russia three weeks ago and played 2 NHL games hasn't mastered his 2-way game yet.

Congratulations on an epic bit of detective work.
