Strictly in terms of offencive ability, Nummelin is the best we've got. Timonen is close, but not as creative, and Pitkänen isn't there yet. Who ever suggested having Lydman instead of him in PP is seriously delusional. Nummelin does truly suck in his own end to make up for it, though. Still, I wouldn't be suprised if he leads all defenceman in scoring.
Niemi is a tough defencive guy with some skill who rarely makes mistake, he is just not big enough to be a force in NHL. Nothing special, but OK for a limited role.
