Important stretch of games the last few weeks and Panarin goes ghost town.

Where have I seen this before?

He hasn't been the worst player of the bunch but mr. 11.6 going playoff mode in regular season games is a new one.
He's older and spends more time avoiding contact by twirling away to avoid a hit. No one wants a leader by that. Finese teams go nowhere in the playoffs. Drury and management doesn't understand that

So, I just noticed @will1066 ‘s little byline:
View attachment 984724

And realized there are two school’s of hockey thought. Will’s and @SnowblindNYR ‘s, which (because goalies) is:

If you score, you better f’n win the game

I think Will's school of thought is a tease at me. I probably said that at one point. Maybe after the Avs game. Another disturbing loss at the hands of our goalie.

I'm sorry but if the Rangers want to instill accountability amongst the organization needs to sit down Shesterkin for consecutive games as that was an unacceptable clear in the third period.

Or maybe bench a vet instead of Othmann Rempe the usually players the coaching staff hates. Othmann will be the new Kakko and traded and then breakout to be what JT Miller turned into. Watch.

I know Kenny is going to get the gig, but it's a bit frustrating that he's going to miss every Rangers game played on Saturday and Sunday for the NFL, and then whatever national responsibilities he also has for TNT.

I like Kenny, just wish we were picking a guy who was always going to be around.

Who is to say that if Kenny gets MSG after Sam, that he might find a way to do less of those types of national coverage

It’s unacceptable that this team relies on the goalie to win whether they play well or not. When they dominate possession they can’t finish and Igor makes 1 mistake they lose. When they get crushed in possession Igor needs to save them. It’s a terrible mentality with these players and it’s fostered by the guys who played with Henrik. Not excusing Igor who sucked tonight and this season but this team does not play a brand of hockey that leaves no doubt.

Even the best teams have most of their games close. I'm sorry that the team needs their 11.5M goalie to play well. Too bad our 11.5M goalie isn't irrelevant.

I know it's disappointing to lose and this might have been one of our best efforts of the year or at least against one of the better teams but the whole year has been shit and this team is not good and it would be better if we end up in the bottom 13 and keep our 1st rounder for this draft. Better also that we're a seller.....that Drury doesn't even think otherwise. Just saying.

Watch all this talk for Drury to make another Wennberg and depth adds and does not move out the rumored players to be dealt.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt at the start of the year. But I can’t ignore it anymore. Lavi needs to go yesterday.
This team being such a shit show is the only thing that's saved him. It's like after last year he just put his feet up and said "Alright, auto-pilot will take this thing until they fire me".

It's reminiscent of the late 90's early 00 teams. No effort, highest paid=most mins, style of hockey that no other team is playing, and a coach that could be replaced by a chimpanzee and things wouldn't change.

I'm sorry but if this was one of our best efforts that's sad. Never at any point did I think this team should be winning 5-1 or was dominating. I liked the neutral zone defense, we really disrupted them moving up the ice, SOG shows that, but it's not like we resembled the 80's Oilers in the offensive zone. Most of our time was spent passing back to the point and trying to get a screen shot through.

Overall...I thought the effort was good for the most part and it looked like we were a bit faster heading up ice when exiting our own zone which I attribute to not having Fox slowing it all down zigging and zagging before he passes it off when everybody is stopped and in waiting mode for a pass . We easily enough could have won the game....keep the effort going and we might get in....no man knows !

Sam did the same thing when FOX had hockey in the mid-late 90s. He also did the NFL.

Mika was good tonight. He’s much better suited on the wing long term and he’s playing with a newfound energy on a line with guys who care.
Sadly that doesn't spread throughout the team and some of the more skilled players like Panarin and Laferriere. One reason I want Miller Captain.

Cuylle JTM Zibs
Panarin Tro Othmann
Berard Carrick Laffy
Vesey/Smith Brodz Rempe

we have to split up the floaters with 2 hard working players.

Berard and Othmann should have permanent spots on the roster moving forward

I liked the effort, the result could easily been better, but thats just hockey.
If they had played like this all season they wouldnt be fighting for their playoff lives.

It`s not impossible to make the playoffs, but they have to go like 15-5-3 the rest of the way, and I just cannot see that happening. Especially with Fox out and Igor being inconsistent. Just hope Drury sees the same....

Mika was t-2nd in the league in scoring during the month of Feb.

Realize it was a truncated schedule because of 4 nations but he's been good for a while and the points came for him last month (as they normally do when someone plays well.) Ranger fans love to beat the drum when former players go on heaters over small sample sizes, so I'm going to take the opportunity to do the same for someone who is still here and has caught a ton of shit this season.

I am astonished at the level of hate he gets compared to Panarin who pretty much gets off scot free from 90% of Ranger fans. Mika has been very productive when the games have matters where as Panarin has been the definition of a shrinking violet. This current stretch is pretty much a microcosm of their tenures are NYR players.

Mika has to go this summer just from a roster management perspective. I'm glad that he's playing better because it's going to make him a more attractive option for other teams. He's straight up become the forward version of Rozsival in these parts.

They need to find a way to be rid of Panarin ASAP. Don't care what it takes. If he says no, make the Trouba situation look like you were giving Jacob a handy under the table in comparison.

Above all else Laf just baffles me.
As an athlete the world's his oyster.
Unless he's hurt what is he doing?

Where’s the incentive? He got paid, the vets around him don’t care, and the coach gives him ice time regardless of outcomes. It’s a culture problem, full stop. It took a borderline sociopath in Messier to drag the club to its only championship in the last 85 years.
