That's what I do. Except when the Jets are on TSN 3 I never watch TSN. The fact that I cut my cable cord almost 10 years ago has something to do with it also.

Hockey media has always been absolute tripe. Just another facet of sports in which the NHL is laughably far behind.

I think the OP makes a reasonable point. From a marketing perspective, the NHL isn't as opportunistic as it could be.

They could have played up that match-up more, and why not? What is there to lose?

After the NHL left ESPN in America and their hockey coverage turned pathetic, I realized these aren't news media efforts, but marketing efforts, created for the purpose of promoting their programming.

It's only gotten worse since then on all networks, now that the advertising revenue in traditional media is shrinking.

Probably a function of the season being so long such that individual games are inherently watered-down except for local coverage. Unlike the NFL where a mid-season big game can decide playoff position because they have so few games, with the NHL a "big game" is just another two points in a mid-season game in a very long season that will be utterly forgotten by the end of the week and which may ultimately affect nothing, i.e., is the two points from beating the Oilers really any more important than if the Leafs had beat the Ducks instead?

I think media in general can be very biased. I don't think it is just a Canadian thing.
The US hockey media does it all the time...inundating us with things about the Rangers (despite that being a flaming crap show....and before that, horrifically overrated, or all these stupid Colorado Avalanche trade options that all favor the Avs while they don't seem to give up much, etc, etc.

It's humorous how you first accused the media of being 'biased' before proceeding to demonstrate your own personal bias by insisting on using emotionally-charged, hyperbolic language like 'flaming crap show' and 'horrifically overrated' to describe an NHL organization. The definition of horrific is 'causing fear or dread or terror' - are you seriously experiencing fear, dread, or terror over an NHL team being 'overrated'? If you're not - then you should realize that you mischaracterized the circumstances you referenced because of your own inherently 'biased' perspective.

There never seems to be any common sense when doing up their proposed schedules at the beginning of each season. They need to set their schedules, and then during the season take a game like Was-Winnipeg and simply just add it to their schedules.............take out another game in it's place so to speak.

These two networks are TO centric and biased of course, we get that...........but come on boys use some common sense too.
There are games on almost every single night..............do better TSN and Sportsnet.

Yes the coverage is biased, and the media members in the East are biased as f*** as well.. just look at the awards every year it's broken.

I mean last year the three major awards - Hart, Vezina and Norris - were all won by Western Conference players....
