He implied that this means that Canadian NHL fans (or any high tax state in the US) can't complain about tax because the dollar is bad even though the tax thing was still a discussion point when the dollar wasn't good (or as bad anyway). The teams in no tax states still have an advantage in that sense.

Well, I think technically we'd become 10 U.S. states. Which if you think about it, would scare the piss out of Republicans. They would never again win the electoral college, the senate and likely the House. I could see Alberta voting Republican and maybe Saskatchewan but we're too socialist up here. The court gets reformed with a democratic majority and here comes GUN CONTROL!!! Our Supreme Court has already ruled that anti-abortion legislation is unconstitutional (though I don't think that's as ingrained here). We have public healthcare, childcare, and pharmacare. We're far too left for them. We would wreck the shit out of them. They're more likely to send the Pacific and N.E. states out way than vice versa (unless democrats figure a way not to be complete frackups).

Tax and spend government has everything to do with inflation. There are like 6 taxes going up in 2025. Our dollar is getting killed, causes inflation, money printing the de-valuing of our dollar and we've been in an actual recession for a year. We are going into a depression.

The NZ dollar is also in the tank compared to the US dollar, despite having had a right wing austerity government cutting spending for over a year. This is more to do with the extreme strength of the US economy since 2021, than anything happening in Canada or Australia or New Zealand.

There is a dip because of recent politics, but a) it wont last and b) our economy is based around a lower Canadian dollar, an election isn't going to change that. Parity is never happening.

Im happy to see you see say " dont be manipulated" as there is so much economic misinfo going around. The federal government doesn't really affect most of the issues people complain about, AKA housing and healthcare, thats on the provinces.

The real issue here is the NHL is dependant on Canadian money. This could be enough to tank to the cap increases. The NHL needs to figure out why so many American franchises dont make money and why it relies on 7 Canadian teams to make up most of its revenue. The Canadian market shouldn't affect the leagues revenue in a such a way that the other 25 teams can't make up the difference.
