Believe NYI claimed Nabokov and be gave them a couple decent seasons.

He wasn't a traditional waiver claim. The Wings signed him from overseas and the rules stated he had to be put on waivers first, which is the only reason he was waived.

Ray Whitney comes to mind mostly because I was extremely pissed at the Oilers for putting him on waivers in the first place.

Lazlo Hollyfeld

The jersey ad still sucks

The answer must be Kyle Quincey because after being waived by Detroit, three seasons later they gave up a 1st round pick to get him back.

(Yes, I am apparently still bitter).

Sidenote: Tampa used that pick to draft Vasilevsky.

Pominville and Briere were on waivers but not claimed.

I remember wanting the habs to make a claim on Briere and Houle saying the habs already had enough small guys. He was correct, they were small, but damn, Briere was a better small guy. He didn’t put in a claim on Briere so he could keep giving prime ice time to the legend, Oleg Petrov :sigh:

He scored the vast majority of his career points in his 30s. Such an odd career. He was also leading the league in scoring for a while when he was with the Caps.

He was looking good at 39 years of age as well, but then he got his Achilles sliced.
That's what happens when you play with Jagr, Lemieux, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidstrom etc.

It helps but he could really stand on his own too.

He scored something like 39 points in 50 games as a 38/39 year old primarily playing with the kostitsyn brothers in the middle 6.

He's one of the guys that will always come up in a late bloomer thread.

He was a good player in his own right, for sure

WHITNEY!!!!

There's someone every couple of years that turns in to some kind of an unreal gem for the team that grabs them.
