Kunitz kind of automatically disqualifies 2014 Canada. He was abysmal in the tournament and brought Crosby down with him. Don't you think can find a player like that on 2002 or 2010.

For the record, I think this year would have been both the best Canada and USA team ever.

Admittedly 2002 was before my time, but did those guys have really bad tournaments?

I think Kunitz especially sticks out because he was brought in on the mistaken assumption that Crosby was "impossible to play with." Smyth and Brewer at least made the team on their own merits (however flawed).

2002- Brouwer, Smyth

Both were better players than Kunitz. Brewer was also surprisingly good in 2002. Kunitz was a definite mistake in 2014, but he may have been the only mistake (Sharp was pretty bad in 2014 though) and that is a plus for the 2014 team. Canada pretty much always flubs some picks. Giroux should have been there in 2014, while Thornton probably should have made the 2002 team, maybe Stevens. Thornton was actually 14th man in 2002. Every team has a few errors in retrospect.
