Im sure we can come up with some sort of qualification process since a "snipe" is sortof an opinion. Is it a goal or is it a goal into a small, often top shelf window? Or maybe a one timer?

40 goals, 60 assists in a season to even be considered? So last season:

MacKinnon
Panarin
Pastrnak
Kucherov
Rantanen
Draisaitl

Just missing:
Matthews (38 assists)
Kaprisov (50 assists)
McDavid (32 goals)
Crosby (52 assists)
Nylander (58 assists)
Miller (37 goals)
M Tkachuk (26 goals)
Thomas (26 goals)

Dmen who really dont qualify because of the free PP points, but Id argue Makar and Josi have the sniper talent.

Q Hughes (17 goals)
Makar (21 goals)
Bouchard (18 goals)
Hedman (13 goals)
Josi (23 goals)
Dobson (10 goals)

This is shouting out loud *Draisaitl*...great sniper and playmaker.

Lots of other good options but this is the safest bet for me.

I’d take pasta and drai over everyone else. The rest aren’t sniper enough for me or don’t get enough assists. Maybe Panarin 3rd.

Fox isn’t a sniper in the sense that his shot isn’t a laser but he did have 17 goals last season (in 72 games, easily could have surpassed 20)

True. He missed my 60 assist threshold that I was gong off of. The others hit either the 40+ goals or 60+ assists.

When I think of sniper and excellent passer, MacKinnon immediately comes to mind.

Draisaitl and Rantanen both have deadly one timers and can dish it.
Panarin
Eichel
Makar
Crosby
Kucherov
Malkin, Stamkos and Kane a few years back.

Pasta for sniper, but misses on the playmaking.

Honestly a pretty short list to be elite at both. Even Jagr back in the day, his one timer was non exisitent. Similar to McDavid now.

"Sniper" doesnt come to mind. Hes a dangler if anything. I can probaby count on one hand the amount of McDavid one timer goals I've seen. Same with Hymand and Reinhart. Tons of goals, not many "snipes".
Pastrnak was top-10 in assists last year I think he qualifies

I think someone like Kaprizov definitely fits this thread too

True. I hate using the “pace” argument but he did hit 60+ the prior 2 seasons so he was probably a good bet to reach it if it wasn’t for the missed games .

This season is a different story

You need to watch more Rantanen.
You are right, actually. I don’t feel like I’ve seen that much of him over the years even though he’s in the central. I think it’s just happenstance or that he happens to have an off night when I do. I certainly watch enough hockey.

Im biased, but I think he is on par with Draisatil or just a smidge under. Both play very similar games parked waiting for McDavid/MacKinnon to feed them one timers, but if they have the puck themselves, especially behind the net, the vision is unreal.

I agree. Using the 40g 60g entrance fee, its an exclusive list.

MacKinnon
Panarin
Pastrnak
Kucherov
Rantanen
Draisaitl
