Draisaitl and it's not even close
I went through about 4 pages of no mention of Drai thinking I lost my mind before I saw the date

Technically yes and technically no, he was tied for the lead in assists.WHY WE BUMPING TEN YEAR OLD THREADS
Wrong. Lemieux 1995-96
100% came to mindKessel is up there. His issues are away from his playmaking and goal scoring.
I was about to respond to this post saying Giroux has two 30 goals seasons, but then I realized this post is from 2015 and both those 30 goal seasons happened after thatHow is Giroux in this discussion? He has 0 30 goals seasons.
Anyway, my choices here are Malkin (average of 38 goals and 62 assists), Crosby (average of 40 goals and 74 assists), Seguin (average of 36 goals and 40 assists in a season not including his rookie season), Kessel (average of 36 goals and 39 assists not including his first 2 seasons) or Ovechkin (average of 51 goals and 46 assists) purely looking at stats. When watching them play, I'd go with Malkin.
Not surprised the original Kessel comment was from 2015.100% came to mind
The guy on pace for 30 goals isn’t a sniperMacKinnon or Rantanen.
Its definitely very close and Id call a lot of players "Snipers" ahead of Draisaitl today and thats not an insult to him at all. Very of his goals, I would call "snipes".Drai AINEC atm. Funny how he is often compared to Malkin in many ways and Geno was the obvious favourite for this in 2015

Drai is the best combination of both we have seen since MalkinIts definitely very close and Id call a lot of players "Snipers" ahead of Draisaitl today and thats not an insult to him at all. Very of his goals, I would call "snipes".
This was a thread back in McDavid's 50+ goal season where he still wasnt considered a "sniper". Snipers are the guys dropping clappers top cheese bar down. Wristers/snappers going glove hand because they can. Bar down or bust.
A sniper is not quantity of goals, but quality.
The posting history of the quoted poster shows a very distinctive trend of downplaying Draisaitl.Drai is the best combination of both we have seen since Malkin
Kucherov. As much as it pains me to type his name, Nikita Kucherov.
Im not downplaying him at all. Im pointing out that he isnt a "sniper". He is an A+ finisher, especially from his office with whoever feeding him in his wheelhouse. The posting history of the quoted poster shows a very distinctive trend of downplaying Draisaitl.

Here is the 23-24 goals (couldnt find this season all in one video). Only 1-2 I would say is a "snipe" and one was a backhand lol.
Here is a video of snipers. Draisaitl I would say is the best backhand passer in the league and one of the top playmakers, top finishers, and top one timers. A sniper though, no.
Here is a video of snipes and I hope its clear that Draisitl is not that guy. Every guy here who plays hockey will agree with me.
