Best sniper + playmaker combination in one player

Depends on your qualification of sniper.

If it is; 'one who scores a lot of their goals on clean, well placed shots from range', instead of 'someone who scores a lot of goals' then the answer could be Giroux. He scores a lot of goals on shots that are hard, accurate and high from the circles out.

St. Louis is someone who also comes to mind, though maybe less so in the last few years. Getzlaf also scores some wicked placed shots, especially wristers. Kane as well could qualify. And those 4 guys have been up there with anyone in the playmaking department.

If it is simply as matter of 'lots of goals + lots of assists' then it is Crosby, with Malkin 2nd.

I'd wager in Crosby and Malkin's best goal scoring seasons, they scored more, "of their goals on clean, well placed shots from range," than any of those you mentioned above.

Well, to me a sniper who doesn't score a lot isn't sniper. No matter how good his shot is.

Malkin is the best answer here, and the Pens' last game is the perfect example of this. Pens' first goal, he carries the puck behind the net and makes a highlight reel pass to Beau Bennett sneaking in the backdoor. Second goal, he has a head of steam coming down the left side and cranks a massive clapper, unscreened, from about 5-10 feet above the top of the circle, outside the dots... top corner, bar down, far side. One of the best shots I've ever seen in my life.

In terms of pure skill, I don't think there is anyone in the world that can hold a candle to Geno.

Kessel is up there. His issues are away from his playmaking and goal scoring.

Yep. I'm not a fan of Kessel due to just how bad he is in those other areas, but his quick release snapshot is incredibly good, and his playmaking has always been solid.

He's a frustrating player, because with his speed and vision, he could be an incredibly solid two-way player, IF he wanted to be (IMO).

Am I the only one to think Steven Stamkos? :skeptic:
He's only scored 300+ goals, 200+ assists the last four and a half season.

(Note: I hate Tampa Bay, btw, and boycotted their Stanley Cup winning finals. This is the second-ever positive ever post I've put up concerning the franchise. So, don't call me homer! I've just come to respect SS.)
