From 2010-2011 through 2013-2014:

2.79, 2.73, 2.72, 2.74

A decline of 1.8% from beginning to end, aka nothing to write home about.

Now look at the scoring leaders. It’s clear there was a bit of a shift in top end scoring that was greater than just league scoring levels, and it wasn’t just because of a lack of talent. PP scoring went down and scoring became more dispersed through the lineup, which continued through 15-16, started raising slightly in 16-17 and then started raising steadily since.

Is Crosby the only all-timer who needs every excuse in the book trotted out for why he couldn't do more? What is so appealing about twisting one's self into a pretzel for this guy?

I know that it gets confusing but I was talking about his PPG production from his rookie season through 13-14 the fact of the matter is that his lowest tial was 1.26 PPG.

The only ones claiming full season totals of 1.61PPG were the guying trying to put up a strawman since they are arguing best season not best player in the world.

But I think you know that right?

Funny that this post has nothing to do with the thread or argument being presented but thanks for turning the Big 3 into the Big 4.

I responded to you. If you didn’t like my response, then it sounds like a personal problem.
I clearly posted the stats and you decided to be selective....whatever it's a hockey forum not grade school nothing is personal here for me.

Malkin for sure. Lots of talk of him being the best player in the world during/after this year and Crosby's concussion issues.

Malkin's peak play carried over after the season into the 2012 World Championship, where he won MVP, and the first 2/3 of the 2012-13 KHL season, where he was the best of all the NHL stars who went over.

No there wasn't.

Crosby outscored Malkin when he did play in 2012 and noone cared about how he did in the KHL. Malkin had two sub performing seasons since 08/09 and just showed that he could play at an élite level again but just not as consistent as Crosby.

Crosby didn’t outscore Malkin at any point in 2012.
