Hoping for real talk and thoughtful responses.

I personally believe that Toronto should seriously look to trade down. However, you have to have a solid offer to do it.

What would fans from Chi/Van offer?

Not interested from a Van POV especially in a draft like this where there isnt a run to the podium consensus #1 pick like a Celebrini or Bedard. The Best player in this draft imo might be drafted anywhere in the top 5.

But just to please the topic.... A realistic offer from Van that I think Toronto would accept:

To Van
#1
- Cap Dump

To Toronto
#3
#33
Hronek ( If he agrees to waive to Toronto)
Debrusk

Van gets #1 overall, likely Stenberg for them , maybe Mckenna.

Toronto gets a top pairing RD that is in the same age cycle as Mathews and Nylander.

They still also get a very good player at #3 between who is available with Mckenna, Reid, Stenberg, Mlahotra

That would be the most insane thing for Vancouver to do. Everyone on the team would be fired within a year. Sedin's included.

Imagine giving that up to go from Stenberg to Mckenna. You could take Stenberg straight up over McKenna and no one would judge you

Yep thats why I said im not interested in trading for the 1st pick at all because Canucks can very well get their guy at #3.

I would probably do that deal.

3 + 33 + Hronek + Debrusk for 1 + Rielly (if he waives) or Joshua (back again) would be the deal.

Did Jim Benning make this post?

The most that's been paid to move up in the top-5 in the past 30 years has been a late 2nd (55th) and a 26 year old Mikael Sameulsson fresh off a career high 24 points. This was also to move up from 3rd to 1st.

People constantly severely overvalue the cost to move a couple of spots in the draft. A more realistic scenario would be the 3rd overall and San Jose's 2nd for the 1st overall. That's nothing that would make Toronto bite, which is why these trades never happen.

There's no reason for the canucks to give up a haul to draft 1st overall. we will be bottom 5 for a while. we need to keep accumulating assets

I can't imagine any Leafs fan would say no too that
I’d say no to that.
But I believe that this time next year the Leafs will be entering a full rebuild so I’m against a trade that brings in guys that much older at the expense of drafting the best possible prospect here.
I also acknowledge the Canucks definitely wouldn’t do this. They are just accepting that they are in a rebuild and trading away that much value to move up 2 spots is insane. Those assets will be used to bring in multiple pieces to help them in a process that will take a few years

You either have a very.... unique... thought process no one else follows or a hard time using English. Go back and read your previous comment.
