What an absolutely stunning pass from Ehlers to Perfetti on the Namestnikov no goal.

Namestnikov has flubbed so many pucks in tight lately, looks great out there but could easily have a few more goals lately.

Its interesting how games can look so different live than on TV. I know most folks would say this game was exciting but watching it live, there was no flow. Way too many whistles (not anyones fault), and delays with reviews (on TV you at least get benefit of reviews and analysis). Both teams, esp Carolina, seemed to be sleep walking for much of the game. Comrie was dialed in though. He looked so calm and big in the net, you could tell he was gonna be a wall all game.

Hah yeah he's getting close to James Wright level hands

No, there are not. Funny thing was that I drive a 2002 Silver Blue Saturn SL1 and someone down the street from where I live had the exact same car, colour, model, and all! Except mine is still on the road, 380,000 kms later...
Nice. I used to work in the country, so my record for kms was 486,000 km on my 1998 Altima. It was fun to take it for oil changes. As they were all highway miles, the oil was as clean coming out as it went in. The guys in the pit would inevitably come out to see the car and its condition as they saw very few cars with that many km. That car was bulletproof but I spent a lot on tires and it went through quite a few windshields. I'm certain Autopac is happy I'm no longer driving country highways.

Nic Petan is PPG this season in the KHL, and played 6 games for the wild last season in which he recorded two brilliant assists. Perhaps True North needs to give him a second chance 9 years later to repeat his standout season in 15/16 when he played 26 games for the jets and recorded 6 brilliant assists. I don't think he's done cooking and can probably get invisible Lowry back on track.

Counterpoint: more stoppages means more Sawyer... :sarcasm:

I thought there were a good number of exciting chances, and my enjoyment level generally rises the more the Jets score (and the less the other team does).

I have a 02 Z28 Camaro with 120,000 km's and have gone through alot of tires.:naughty::laugh: On a side note these Jets are really good.:D

He's the guy carrying the puck though on the zone entries, making a good 1st pass with it. A lot of the best looks the 2nd line is getting is from his puck distribution, with speed. Gets to the net with speed. Could finish a few more but he's in the right place.

I think his goal was disallowed just to even up the disallowed score.

That's going to be a lot more gut wrenching when those decisions are made in the playoffs.

It's arguably more of an accomplishment to be on top after the 82 games, 6+ month slog of the regular season. But the general perception is that the regular season is just the seeding method for the playoffs and so we assign greater prestige to the Cup winner. Everyone pretty much agrees that the Stanley Cup Winner is the best team in the league. Everyone, including the players, think that way too, so the playoffs are definitely higher stakes and everyone digs deep...

Really, they're different kinds of accomplishments.

The SC winner is seldom 'the best team'. They are the team with the best combination of quality and luck. Clearly, they have to be among the best teams, but they also need to be relatively injury free. They need their path to the Cup to be favourable. They need the refereeing to at least not run against them. They need the bounces to favour them. They need to be the best team of 2 at 16 times and places. I think we all know that, but we react as though the winner is the best team anyway because that is the title they have won.

I don't think it was gaslighting, there was definitely a solid contingent of folks who thought the main cause was the schedule and we would be able to turn it around once that was done.

So far, credit to them they look like they were right. That's the way i remember the discourse.

While I am sure schedule was a part of it, there was something else going on, they were just so bad in all their numbers. A big reason is that there have been many seasons where after a great start "the switch" seems to turn off around January (last 2 seasons and the infamous 18-19 seasons where we went from being the best team in the league for 1.5 seasons to a .500 team starting Jan), so people have their guards up when they the Jets slump after a hot start.

Thankfully this seems seems to be bucking that trend so hope this keeps up. Fingers crossed.

Im on my 11th car in 8 years here in Florida. So many tires and this is the best Jets team in Winnipeg history

As the Habs showed just a few years ago, you don't even have to be a good team, you just need a goalie to stand on their head

I have always had an affinity for David Gustafson. Felt that he would be am unsung strength, fly under the radar, but an important depth piece for mostly intangibles.

I know, small sample size, yada, yada....but fun facts:

Even strength Points per 60 minutes played, Gus Bus is at 1.495.

At even strength, this P/60 is better than:

Josh Morrisey
Shane Pinto
Mika Zibanejad
Tyler Bertuzzi
Patrick Kane
Kevin Fiala
Erik Karlson
Patrik Laine
Lane Hutson
Roman Josi
Chris Kreider
Conor Geekie
Miro Heiskanen

And about 1000 others. Fun stuff :)

Clearly, we are not getting him enough TOI!

Obviously live is different than watching on TV, but I've seen the Canes play way better than that this year. However, the Jets were pretty good at pressuring the puck all game and not giving them any really good looks.

Agreed - but I've seen Jets play way better than they did last night too - I was at the game.

Canes checking, fore and back, was tight and strong. They shut down the top line, or it was off. They couldn't shut down our PP and they couldn't score on their PP, except for the goalie interference one.

Did the TV ever explain why Kupari's goal was initially waived off? I couldn't hear the ref's announcement over the booing. Watched the replays and it always looked good to me.

I had to laugh when I saw this.
I really don’t care if Arniel wins coach of the year … the Cup is the one I want him to win but seriously this is a joke. After Arniel called out the Jets for their worst performance of the year … the Jets have not lost.
7 straight wins ... that alone should get him in the top 2 choices.

I have 4 cars that average 11 years old! What are you doing down there in FLA?

Price's last hurrah helped, but those Habs were actually playing pretty well, despite their somewhat lackluster roster trying to Skrudland their way to another undeserved Stanley Cup.
