Best defenseman on your team this season

Alex Vlasic

Big, long reach, hugely efficient at shutting guys down, good skater for 6ft6. He's probably on the bubble for being one of the top 32D in the league; really depends on how much you value defense over offense. He's not perfect, and he's prone to an off night every couple of weeks, but he's pretty much the only guy currently on the Hawks backend that fans don't actively despise.

You can make an argument for everyone but Brendan Dillon. I'll go with Luke Hughes. Taken as a whole, he's been a very good defenseman. But I read a blog post saying that after a certain date, his underlying numbers are Norris-caliber. And this is his second full NHL year.

That's surprising to read. On the Jets the past few years I felt he was mostly solid. Nothing crazy but a reliable player.

For the Sharks it's Walman by a country mile. We actually win the minutes he's on the ice.

That is ridiculous lol. Ducks are loaded with D prospect. Feels like there's a decent chance they end up with Mrtak a well if they're outside the top 8. Seems like Verbeek type pick, and he balance the heavy LHD focus.

I, for one, hope they don't add one of the top forwards (or Schaefer) they're loaded enough as it is.
I recall a not too distant past when Ducks had young Fowler, Lindholm, Vatanen and Theodore in their lineup (nevermind some of the vets) and I thought their future looked incredibly bright. Here we are 6-8 years later or something with history starting to repeat itself?

In another team's forum I read (from numerous posters) that Luke kinda fell off a cliff around 10 games ago. Any truth to this? I don't follow the Devils.

So happy to see several Oiler fans to post the name 'Nurse' .. I was scared too.lol He is having a nice season and doing a lot of heavy lifting. I'd call it a 3 way tie based on this season - Nurse, Ek and Bouch. All have had ups and downs this season. None will win a Norris anytime soon though.
