My top 10 is mostly filled with female artists, and for the second straight year my #1 is from a lady who's nearly 60:

Of course, this list could be completely different 5 years from now. Some stuff holds up after repeated listens, some doesn't. And I still haven't heard a lot of albums mentioned in this thread. Most of my Spotify time is spent digging up obscure stuff from the 70s and 80s.

I'm finally done with 2024. Below is my top-10 favorite albums, and all the other ones I've listened to during the year.

It really was an amazing year for music. Even though Fiasko (and Imerro too, very close behind) is just amazing, if I had to choose an "album of the year", I'd probably go with one of the very ambitious ones. Possibly Joey Duran's Feet Always Cold, or maybe Spiral Staircase's The Perfect Child - both are coming from very young artists and are super impressive, the second one certainly flawed, but has a few knock out punches that redeems it more than enough.

My top-end (and most of what I listen to anyway) is probably too "avant-garde" heavy for most, but there was still quite a few easy listening projects that I was impressed with. If I had to select my personal "best song of the year" (in a more conventional understanding of what a song is), I'd probably go with Jean Dawson's Kollapse (which does a lot of things I should hate, but does it so nicely I love it).
