Is 11.5M for the most overrated goalie in the history of hockey the worst contract in history?

Everyone loves to talk about what a big game goalie Shesterkin is (because frankly other than an ancient Venzina there's nothing else to brag about in his game). However, this is the middle of a tight playoff push. The last game games before today:

That's 5 straight games with a save % of less than 0.900 and lost 4 of 5 IN THE MIDDLE OF A PLAYOFF PUSH. Frankly, outside of the Carolina game we could have won 4 of those games with better goaltending. And then today albeit in disgraceful effort by the Rangers he gave up 5 goals on 16 shots in the first period and got pulled. This will be a second time in three games against the *checks notes* Buffalo Sabres he got chased after giving up 5 goals, last time it was on 12 shots.

Shesterkin is a media and fan creation. And the Rangers bottom of the barrell GM was was terrified that he would be letting his Saquon Barkley out the door and bent over backwards for an absolute f***ing bum and gave him the richest contract for a goalie in NHL history.

Going into this game Adam Fox is +13% in xG% (6th in the league for a dfenseman) when he's on the ice vs. off, playing with the worst f***ing defenseman in the league. He's also on pace for 66 points and is a +6 on a dumpster fire of a team. But he had a bad All Star Tournament, troll harder.

BTW, before anyone (probably someone watching the Rangers game) says anything. I checked TWO sources moneypuck and natural stattrick. One has expected goals against the Rangers at 0.6 and one at 0.79. If you think that it's all because of Shesterkin's team. Both places gives the Rangers a higher expected goals. Anyone that thinks any on the Rangers is more overrated than this bum, LMAO!

Had that one incredible season and had been living off of it. $11.5 mil long term is scary. Rangers were in a horrible position. Couldn’t let him walk and he was holding a gun to their head for that huge contract. They better hope that he finds his game and become at least respectable again.

Why is it when a goalie sucks it's always blamed on the team? When you have 6 straight games during a playoff push of sub .900 goaltending I don't know how it's all on the team. The Rangers as a team used to give up a ton of shots but since the new year they've had like two games where they gave up more than 30 shots and one of those games Quick started for an won. I understand shots are not everything but believe me his goals given up above expected is very high. Just today in one period it was more than 4. And if he's only as good as the team in front of him and I won't even give him the honor of saying that he is, I think he drags this team down, but even if he is, that's a 6 million dollar goalie, not a 11.5 million dollar goalie.

Even if he took the lowest contract he could take, let's say 10 mill considering Swayman with 0 accomplishments got 8.5, where would that extra 1.5 go?

He's been basically 930 his entire playoff career. Goalies who perform at that level deserve to get paid.

Yeah, at this point, as a Cats fan, I don't care if we pay Bob 10 million a year to backup Knight. Fans turn into hr accountants when teams are struggling. You could put Helly on the Rangers and they still aren't having a good year.

They were in an odd spot where some of the guys they already had were in their primes like Kreider and Mika, they signed a player who was in his prime (Panarin), added two top prospects (Kakko and Fox) and traded for another guy who was in his prime in Trouba.

So it's not like most core groups that are all drafted in consecutive years and come up through the ranks together while their team adds guys around the same age and molds it into a finished product.

I doubt Dolan would've ever signed off on a. true rebuild, but it was accelerated when Panarin & Fox fell into their laps.
