Prospect Info: Berkly Catton - Forward(Round 1, Pick #8, 2024 Draft)

Isn't Jagger Firkus in the mix. His size is a potential impediment, but his ceiling, if all went well, has to be way up there, too.

It would be great if Jagger put on twenty pounds of muscle, but sometimes you can't always get what you want, but you get what you need. :D

I saw the first Coachella game and have seen highlights of games since then. Firkus has looked good to me. Yes, size is a factor but he has been able to be effective despite it. Sure, he is never going to win board battles but as long someone on his line can do that job, he can still be very productive player.

At this time, I would put Catton as our top prospect. I see Firkus and Rehkopf next, in no particular order. Sale, Goyette and Nyman would be somewhere next but I think Sale can seperate himself this season if he can keep producing like he is in Coachella (3 points in 2 games). If he can end the AHL season at a 0.5 PPG clip or higher, I would be thrilled.

Catton had 2 goals today in a 5-1 beating of Victoria, and I genuinely think it was not the best part of his game today. His game looks pro-ready. He has elite vision, is really good with checking on both sides of the ice, and has a great shot. He is not very physical and does not go for board battles, but he is still making sure he is helpful and creating space to either receive a pass or break a pass.

Only think that keeps him away from the NHL next season is his body. He needs to get stronger and pack some muscle over the summer.

I like Catton but the Kraken have 3 centers already that will playing regulaurly for the next 6-7 years, where does he play LeftWing ala Jared McCann? Seems like the Kraken are loaded at Centre not that all Centers can't be converted only a few ever make that adjustment successfully...good Luck to young Catton

Watching Cristall and Catton together will be a treat. I think Cristall also has insane offensive potential, might even be more than Catton.
Cristall is a year older too

Though a short-lived treat, no? We haven't pried his rights from the Caps have we? Would be nice.

Yes, though I certainly wouldn't complain about acquiring him.

Catton projects more as a winger currently. I also wouldn't say we're loaded with centers considering we still don't have anything close to a 1C anywhere and pretty much just have a mismash of 2-3Cs atm.

Yeah. I don't think Beniers ends up being anything more than a high-end 2C unless he figures out how to start chipping in more with points. Wright could be one but way too early to say.

To me, Catton as a winger is fine. He could work great on a line with Wright and their skill sets could be very complimentary of each other.

Overall, I don't know if we have any projectable 1C either. Wright and Catton *could* get there but not for a while. For us, might be better to see if we can get elite wingers to compliment our centers and get the most out of them. Like Kakko with Beniers works well. If we upgrade Schwartz with a better winger, that could be a 1B type of line. Same with something like Catton and Wright. I hope one of Nyman, Firkus or Sale become legit top-6 wingers but right now, I see them as 3rd line forwards.

With the money Beniers and Stephenson are hauling down I think They are the numero uno and numero due (C1 and C2) with Wright as the numero tre and in a few years maybe the number 2

I see Sale and Nyman as top 6 even Firkus but he's got to put on more muscle...another season or 2 for the trio should have them ready or not here they come
