I just feel like Brassard looks at times like Zucc with a better shot. The guy has the talent and vision to be a 60 point player meanwhile he seems to be a 40+ point player.

I just don't think Brassard is that smart. I'd argue he has better puck handling skills, definitely a better shot and his technical passing skills (just the ability to execute difficult passes) is similar. But his vision is nowhere where Zucc's and that's directly related to his ability to think and process hockey at a high speed.

Zucc's vision is lightyears ahead of Brass. However, I think brass is a much better puck handler and shooter. They aren't that far apart in terms of skill. Now back to the actual topic.

Pouliot has turned into a forechecking monster. Not sure if he just realized he's heading to the playoffs or the coaches taught him how to use his giant frame.

Yeah, I can't remember a player that went from so horrible to good in one season like that. I guess Stepan last season. Stepan was never nearly as bad Pouliot but obviously played at a much higher level than Pouliot when he played well.

Funny thing is, the Pouliot, Brassard, Zuccarello line seems like a playoff-line too...

Pouliott will resign for sure and good for him he's always had the talent. Remember when he was grouped w Pyatt in conversation ?

Also brassard is a 2nd line C to me. Buying out Richards is a must w the contract penalty on the cap

I would not be scared to give Pouliot a 4-5 year deal at 2.4 per year....cheap guy locked up moving forward . He has the size and good skills...we make him nastier...it will be some deal for us .

Doesn't Benny have 1 goal in like 17 games? I admit I didn't like the signing but he has been hustling every night...He's a nice 3rd liner but keep giving him 1 year deals to keep him hungry and if he wants a multi let him walk

BP has 13-20-33, including 7 PPG's. Not too shabby for a 3rd liner.

It's his highest point total ever in an NHL season, beating his 2011-12 season with Boston, where he got 16-16-32

I didn't even notice, him and Zuccs are both on 5 game point streaks.

In his past 50 games Pouliot has scored 12g-19a-31p, which would be 20g-31a-51p if he kept it up over a full year.

He has really come around after his slow start.

I want to agree, but I'm not quite sure Brassard can handle that load, UNLESS Brassard is going to be able to put up 60 points consistently. For him to do that, you need Pouliot and Zucc on his wings... this line is like a magic wand.

I would do it too, and no doubt Poo would take it. the guy has been on, what, 5 teams in 6 seasons? I'm sure the security is more important than the money for him.

It should also be noted that I think him and AV have a good understanding of each other. I've never seen someone benefit to this degree from a simple coaching change.

He hasn't slowed down either.

He was brutally terrible to start the year, but once he got going he never slowed down. That's why I think it's unfair to call him enigmatic at this point. He had his piss-awful start, but picked it up and kept it going.

Pouliot is playing great hockey right now.

So lets just wait for Slats to let him go and over pay for someone with a bigger name... ;)

Seriously though, I was down on Poo when we got him and crapped on him for the first month. He is really proving me wrong. He is litterary playing a really good game out there.

A lot like Zucc, though Zucc managed to get his **** together at an earlier point. He has been scoring at 70pt pace since the scratch.

I was hyping the crap out of Pouliot and Zuccarello all summer and looked very stupid at the start of the season, but they came around eventually.

Habs fan coming in peace...I remember when Pouliot played for MTL. He was one of my favorite players on the team back then. The guy had size, he could somewhat fight (they don't call him one punch Pouliot for nothing), and he had ridiculous talent and potential. He seems to do pretty well everywhere he goes, racking up 40-45 pts per season. The reason MTL and several other teams let him go is because he could be so much more...his potential was just insane. As long as teams take him for what he is, and what he will be (a very good 3rd liner), he's a steal and a great player to have. I hope he continues to do well in New York.

He goes to the net and keeps his stick down looking for Zuccarello and Brassard passes. That's going to get him a lot of points right there.

This line combination seems to bring out his best.

He has always been a streaky player. He is what he is. 30-40 point 3rd liner who is much more offense oriented than defense.

He fits in very well though in NY and I hope he is back.

It's scary our best line is made up of players who are RFA/UFA after this season... Ai! I hope we re-sign all 3 (Poo, Brass and Zucc)

I think Pouliot has finally gotten "it."

"It" being the way he needs to play to stay in the league. He's not going to get by off his offensive skill alone, because he's just not strong enough on the puck. A lot of times I think he plays a similar offensive game to Nash, just not nearly as strong on the puck; and that style barely works for Nash

"It" for Pouliot = getting in hard on the forecheck, banging bodies, creating turnovers and tipping in shots on the PP. If he can continue to do those things, he will be an extremely valuable 3rd liner that can score here and there. Guys like that are just as important as your top players in a playoff series.
