Bennett slewfoots Tavares at the end of the game

Dirty play. Tough for the Leafs as they'd like the guy as their 2C.

As a Leafs fan, yup! Exactly who they need. I don't like the play but I'd call it closer to a trip than a slewfoot. He's dirtbagged us a couple of times now though.

I wouldn't call that a true slewfoot to be honest. Obviously a trip, but lacking the added force that comes from pulling the player backwards. The risk of injury there was low.

It looked like Bennett apologized immediately, don't see any real intent here.

This is such a bullshit “oops look at clumsy me” type of move. Pretending so he doesn’t get a penalty (which of course he didn’t).

The damage was done, whatever he does afterwards is meaningless and simply acting

Brennett is a real piece of shit.

That said, Johnny’s nasty head shake will scare him off doing anymore of that garbage. Johnny told him what for……

Bennett being a dirty POS? I mean, you might as well pin this thread.

Pathetic response from Tavares.

If you showed me that replay and stopped it when Tavares hit the ice, I’d say it was a cheap shot for sure.

But everyone’s body language after the play kind of tells a different story. We’ll never know what Bennett said to Tavares, but the way he said it seemed pretty nonchalant and Tavares didn’t look to the ref to do anything about it. Nor did Bennett look like he was ready to defend himself from retribution.

Leaf jokes aside, the guys on the ice usually jump in pretty fast if there’s a real issue. For everyone to just kind of stand around and get ready for the next faceoff, suggests it was incidental contact between two guys who had their eyes on the puck instead of each other’s skates.

Or the Leafs are just p***yes....

It's clear as day accidentally on purpose. Like, Florida fans ain't even denying it. And it would be like giving ya buddy Tom Wilson the benefit of the doubt.

It's calculated by Bennett, letting them know he's gonna be there towing the line when they meet again in the playoffs.

Like him if he's on your squad and hate em otherwise

It may have been one of those accidentally on purpose things but he's not out there to cheap shot a player like Tavares who is well respected. Pretty obvious that he apologized right away, and he is not the type of player to say sorry for borderline plays.
