I never want to see Drouin, Armia or Gallagher again

I feel like it's unfair to group Gallagher with the other two, and Armia with Drouin.

Gallagher has been an absolute warrior for the Habs and one of our best scorers for many years. His contract sucks, but I'm not gonna put that against him, it's on Bergevin. Do I want him and his contract gone for hockey reasons? Yes. Do I never want to see him again? That's too much...

Armia just has 2 more years left and 3.4M is really not the end of the world. He was a fine depth player - no harm in letting him play out the contract that once again, Marc Bergevin decided to offer. But, definitely not in the same category as Gallagher in terms of impact with the team.

Habs have to maintain a minimum of 18 players on the roster.. which is why Barron and RHP stayed up.
Not to mention............they have played well.

The problem with Gally is his insane contract at 6.5M that comes with his brutal performance.............that's why fans are frustrated.............this year is worse than last............and thanks to Bergy we have FOUR more years of the insanity............
Guy is broken..........

oh yes Gallagher is, and everyone knew that contract was hideous the moment it was signed.

I like to separate the player/individual from the contract. I hope that management can find a solution that works for both the best interest of the team AND Gallagher.

But it might end up a Price situation, where Gallagher tries to come back until he's simply not fit to play anymore...

Kinda crazy how MB got us two such situations in such a short period of time. Even Drouin, Byron we're basically just waiting their contracts out... maybe even Edmunston?

How many players from one core can you have just finish their career injured and unable to play around the same time period?

I imagine the goalies don't count since without them, they're exactly 18 players. But with them, they're 20, which then would allow them to send RHP and Barron down.

Barron was named to the AHL All-Star team and it's this weekend. I imagine they will end up sending him down once they shuffle some things around with the roster and probably guys on IR.

It would suck if Barron and RHP aren't down for the two games against the Marlies this Friday & Saturday. They can use these guys for their push to remain in a playoff spot.

He has nothing left to offer, and his brutal penalties and whining are long lost on me

I heard the TSN commentators say that Barron wasn't being sent down by management. They said that last night

It's possible. But I also think management has no choice but to keep him up now due to the rule that they need to keep at minimum 18 players on the roster. If they had enough players, Barron and RHP would be down to help Laval this weekend.

But you can say between the four players they could send down, they chose to keep RHP and Barron up. Belzile was sent down to stop the 10-game/30-day counter before he requires waivers again. So between the waiver-exempt players, they chose to send Ylonen down instead of RHP or Barron.

I still think Ylonen has decent upside but he is one of those players who has to play with good players. He has not done enough in the 10 games he has played. He did ring one off the post last night.

He flashes, I don't think he's found a way to be consistent at the NHL level yet.

Good news is he should get plenty of chances to find that consistency between the end of this year and all of next year.

Ya but just to keep playing over the Habs break. I'm surprised they didn't send him back.

It's only 2 games (well technically 3 but I doubt he would play for Laval on the 10th and then MTL on the 11th).

He gets well earned time off and a salary boost instead.

crazy when some of the most positive things to happen to this team in 10 years is that multiple players have career ending physical and/or mental issues.

I do not wish any ill to these players, and I'll assume in good faith that these all happened out of bad luck, but I'm really looking forward to brighter days.

I'm happy to see that guys that we call back from Laval are producing, even if they get a bit overhyped and idolized as a result.

The NHL roster has to have a minimum of 18 players. So they were only able to send 2 guys down.

Belzile was surely sent down to stop the 10-game/30-day counter before he requires waivers again.

After that, it was to determine who probably deserves the NHL pay a little more. And they determined RHP does.

I think if the Habs were not in such a tight roster situation, we'd be seeing RHP and Barron sent down also.

Belzile was on emergency recall so his waiver counter was not running.

However, he is the captain of Laval and behind RHP and Pïtlick on the depth chart. It made sense for him to be one of the two guys returned.

Emergency recall also has a 10-game/30-day counter, but it's separate from a standard recall.

Belzile played 5 games on emergency recall. I don't know how many days, though.

So if Habs still require Belzile on an emergency recall, they can still do that. But after that, they'd have to turn it into a standard recall if they still need him by papering him being sent back down and calling him up.

And after the TDL, teams are only allowed 3 standard recalls.

Sending him down was still to save games and days if they need him on emergency recall again at some point.

I hope Belzile gets a shot at 4c for the rest of the season, to see if he can hack it for next season.

Is it 3 or 4 standard recalls after the TDL? Did it used to be 4?
