Apparently Richard was talking crap.about the Habs coaching after getting sent back down? Saying he was misused and wasn't able to play his game? According to a buddy of mine.

Anybody else hear this?

It's a small sample, but it feels like he finally found his niche as a 4th line center of all things, after 9 years as a pro. Hard not to be happy for the guy.
They're not exactly the same, because Belzile is more physical, but he reminds me a bit of Glen Metropolit who was a great fourth line center for us.

Being on the fourth line is not only about energy and being physical, you also have to have certain skills to be good at it. Belzile sees the play well, he has produced good offensive numbers almost everywhere he played. And he's not getting those numbers by playing a fancy game, but an efficient one. The folks at l'Antichambre are raving about his play and they're right, especially Bruno Gervais who seems like he really, really wants us to give him a good look.

What's impressive to me is that he was a scoring winger for most of his career at the lower levels and he was generally used to fill in a role on the top 9 in his call ups with the Habs for the past few seasons. The role he's had in the last few games is really new for him and he's been thriving on it.

He wasn't really talking crap. He just said he tried to play an energy game while up, since he was being used primarily on 4th line & wasn't getting a lot of minutes. All of which was true.

He also said he appreciated the opportunity, wished he had shown more & hoped for another chance.

He obviously wanted a shot at the top 6, and sounded disappointed he didn't get one there.

I had no issues with what he said. He didn't take potshots or criticize coaching staff.

It was an interview he did after being reassigned to Laval.

I think it was not seen well. I thought i heard that he also said he didn't think he should have been sent down.

I expected this move, including Barron not getting assigned.

I did not expect RHP to stay up. Figured they would assign him then recall him after the break.

I wonder why they're not assigning RHP?

I wonder if Ylonen and Belzile get called back up after the break, even if Drouin and Armia are back?

Mostly, I hope RHP gets to play with Suzuki after the break.

Idk, we'll see if RHP gets reassigned tomorrow. I can see Belzile getting recalled. He seems like he can at least hold down 4th line center, so they don't have to play Drouin there.

RHP - Suzuki - Anderson
Drouin - Dvorak - Dadonov
Hoffman - Dach - Pitlick
Pezzetta - Belzile - Armia

No room for Ylonen, so I doubt he gets recalled. If Monahan is ready to go than it's doubtful Belzile is recalled. Maybe they keep Belzile for 4th line center, and send Pitlick down. Dach moves back to Suzuki wing & RHP takes Pitlick's spot.

Dach won’t go back to wing.

We really need to get rid of Drouin, Dadonov, Anderson, and hopefully Hoffman and Armia by next year.

Time to give opportunities to RHP, Ylonen, Heineman, Farrell, and maybe Belzile to get Evan's intonthe top 9, and maybe Pitlick.

Youth and speed.

Caufield - Suzuki - Dvorak (get Dvo's numbers up before he's moved)
Slafkovsky - Dach - Farrell
RHP - Evans - Heineman
Ylonen - Belzile - Gallagher
Pez, Pitlick, Armia

You forgot Beck, who has a good shot of making the NHL next season. Roy probably starts in AHL.

Probably as a reward for his recent play as I assume he'll get paid his NHL salary even during the break which is always a nice bump in pay.

Ylonen pretty much had to go because his 9 games were up and he could not longer be sent down without risking waivers, if he played in a single additional game. Belzile, RHP and Pitlick are on emergency recall and their games are not yet counting against the waiver clock.

Belzile is sent down because he is behind Pitlick and RHP on the depth chart while being older (31), and he is Laval's captain and should be the next one to return there.

We can't send down anyone else since we are at 20 players now even including Edmundson and Caufield.

Ylonen is not waiver eligible til next fall. Waiver rules don't apply to him. He's still on his ELC. Ditto RHP.

It's already crowded though!

And it's crowded with youth even if we miraculously get rid of Hoffman and Armia, plus Anderson for the right return, which we probably won't be able to do!
