He had a good game though.Another disappointing game.
Sure. I guess I have a higher standard for him at this point. He had a good game though.
A nice primary assist on Korchinski's goal, over 50% at the dot.
It wasn't an amazing game for him, but it was a good one. If you felt that was a disappointing game from him, that's more on you than anything.
I'm not sure what you've seen from him this year that has lead you expect multiple points a game. Its just not that kind of year for him.Sure. I guess I have a higher standard for him at this point.
I didnt say I expected a multiple point game.....I'm not sure what you've seen from him this year that has lead you expect multiple points a game. Its just not that kind of year for him.
What are some examples of his poor defensive play last night? They outchanced, outshot, and out-attempted the Bruins with Bedard on the ice, I can't remember many dangerous scoring chances against with him out there and I don't recall any instances of him being caught out of position or losing his check. Only defensive plays from him that stick out in memory are the penalties and a nice strip of possession along the wall at the blue line, I want to say in the 2nd period. He made a few nice plays on offense but was pretty poor defensively as usual. Also had a really terrible penalty, and another penalty that was a tough call but he had his stick in the guy so he gets some blame.
He’s certainly had worse games, but I also wouldn’t say he had a good game last night.

hooking is becoming the flopping of the NHL. Ive never noticed it before but everytime Bedard's stick is out there the opposing player (pastrnak yesterday) just hugs it with his arm until its called. Bedard even dropped the stick and Pasta was still holding it. This has happened a few times recently against Bedard.
It's important to see him live. You can really tell what he's trying to make happen, he's a very observant player. More talent would be great for him, would 2nd year Kane be doing any better with this roster? His passing, excluding the spinorama backhand and other forced passes, is his best current asset.
He has an excellent backhand pass overall, and isn’t afraid to use it even cross ice. Nobody else anywhere does that with any frequency.
He routinely makes difficult cross ice passes in the neutral and offensive zones, often to the late trailing player who he oftentimes can’t even see (as far as I can tell), as well as to players cutting to the net. I’ve been frequently amazed at how he threads passes in the offensive zone onto the tape of a teammate who shouldn’t otherwise even get a pass. At ice level I’m blown away by how many sticks his passes miss, and who he passes to. (As an aside, he makes very quick all around glances all of the time, constantly looking for and assessing teammates and opponents.)
Of course, his shorter passes can also be amazing, but they’re less mind-blowing than those long ones. He’s close to or is an elite passer, and that’s why, I think, he forces those crazy stupid passes leading to turnovers. When he gets teammates with better IQ and more talent, he will shine even more.
He’s got a really long stride which makes him look slow. His first few steps aren’t very quick which exasperates the issue. He also doesn’t utilize crossovers to gain north south speed like McDavid and MacKinnonIt's important to see him live. I have no idea what i'm talking about with his technical stride or anything but he looks slow out there to me. Or at least usually not quick enough to do what he's trying to do. When he was drafted I thought he'd be darting all over the offensive zone giving himself great looks for that amazing shot of his.
And he has a somewhat hunched over style too. He’s got a really long stride which makes him look slow. His first few steps aren’t very quick which exasperates the issue. He also doesn’t utilize crossovers to gain north south speed like McDavid and MacKinnon
Leads you to think the front office should be looking for a guy who shoots a ton to pair with him, right? Maybe Marner isn't necessarily the best option to help him fully reach his potential. His passing, excluding the spinorama backhand and other forced passes, is his best current asset.

It’s not a huge shock that Bedard is fifth in the league in primary assists at five-on-five. He teed up Ryan Donato’s equalizer in the third period for his 21st primary assist at five-on-five, tying him with the Edmonton Oilers’ Connor McDavid. Bedard has proved to be an even better playmaker than scorer, with nearly twice as many assists (80) as goals (43) in his first two seasons. But what’s interesting is how few secondary assists Bedard has. His 21-to-3 ratio of primaries to secondaries is by far the widest in the NHL, with Winnipeg’s Mark Scheifele (20-to-7) and Los Angeles’ Phil Danault (19-to-7) the only ones within spitting distance.

7 years, but I agree otherwise.Marner is the only forward I'd feel comfortable giving 8 years. The production has been elite since day one and his game should age well. He doesn't need to play with Bedard to justify the signing, they need 4 more top 6 forwards to go with CB and Nazar. Adding a 100 point forward to go with Bedard who should get there would be huge.
I think the hate is mostly for our team due to success even if it was a while ago. It’s got little to do with Bedard. Hockey fans make a bigger deal out of all things Blackhawks than they would some loser franchise.Yeah nothing to worry about his offense. Once he improves his skating and gets two legitimate wings that compliment his game better, he's going to put up insane points. He already generates so much, I just don't get the hate.
