This needs to be talked about more. Fanbase is in denial rn. He's only 19 so there's plenty of time, but generational he is not.'

So we got Patrick Kane part deux. That is fine.
I really think it has more to do with the bench bosses than anything to this point. Richardson is still coaching for the late 90s and Bedard is a modern player. I think it's great that Richardson has been tinkering with linemates and deployment, helps show how broken his realatively conservative LR's style is, at least for a roster setting up to develop players.

KD needs to admit to the mistake or just admit it's time for an adjustment in style of play. This game of square-peg-round-hole is not helpful for the roster this year and next in my opinion.

I think one of the reasons Jones gets hammered is that he's the only one who recognizes and can do something about the back end being mostly useless in the attacking half of the ice besides the occasion aggressive decision to keep the puck in the zone. Usually they are just hyper conservative off the puck and keep it way too simple (since they have literally nothing to lose right now) with the puck.

The rebuild is not about Bedard... how is it square prg round hole? The focus of the talent. It is silly how many fans sole focus is Bedard. Yes, this thread is for him, but the rebuild itself isn't.

Their focus is more on building defense. They have 3 23 & under Dmen looking very good at the moment. They have what nobody thinks is better than a bottom 5 roster, in the middle teens of expected goals against and all.

It would be much worse for this teams future if it was just full offense like Montréal. The people who think Bedard needs to be generational would be happier with the scoring. I dont see the benefit though long term. That's the goal

I can't stand LR and think that the fanbase just hates on Jones because he's 1.5-2M overpaid(depending on who you ask)

It's not Jones's fault Bowman gave him that contract.

I'll also add that Jones was the only player trying to open up some ice in the attacking half last year. Sure he would ping it off some shinpads or into the logo, but it wasn't all his fault nobody knew what to do when the structure of either team changed or broke down a little. He's top pair and eats big minutes and can do things offensively, which Bedard needs from the back, he's fine.

I'm definitely not focused on Bedard overall, he's one part of the whole thing. I'm assuming he'll be hurt or banged up again once the injury train rolls through and he becomes a bigger target again. I was one of the few people that picked him under 70pts prior to last year and as long as the defense is playing as tight as they are off the puck, I'm not expecting generational production out of him.

Square-peg-round-hole is playing a tight structured defensive game when league scoring rate 5 on 5 is at it's highest in decades. This team isn't winning anything in a few years worrying about defense first, there are too few chances to experiment creatively in NHL games to be wasting years playing tight and going into turtle-mode just to stay in games.

It takes much longer to develop D than offence

It’s the reason we are building around the backend first just like we did last time. It’s the same reason this team went belly up in 2017 when Keith Seabrook and co showed their age and guys started to fall off a cliff

Couldn’t agree more. You don’t build like the Leafs or even the Oilers have. Then you are chasing down a D for half a decade looking for that piece

And he's doing this with 4th liners on his wing. Or in the case of Reichel, an AHLer.

Bedard is doing just fine. Kyle is failing him.

Frank would remedy much of the team's problems at the moment.

Why u gotta throw in the random shade towards Reichel? He’s actually been improving so far this season. You should be happy for him. I don’t get it. Instead you’re idk what but it’s not cool.

He's been abysmal. I don't know what "improvements" you're referring to.

Every metric says that he's currently the team's biggest liability. And he's been that bad while getting the easiest matchups of anyone on the team.

You guys seriously need to stop looking at the 6 points in 12 games. I'm telling you right now, it's not sustainable with his level of play. He's not ending the season with 40 points. It'll be around 20 while he's sheltered and a liability.

I'll be happy for him when he's off to play in Europe.

That was a good article. This quote stood out:

“I want to be able to say I found out how good I could possibly be,” he says. “However good that is, nobody knows. But I want to find out.”

He really looks more like a winger than a center to me. At the very least he should have started on the wing and moved to center after a year or two. Wouldn’t have been the first, and certainly not the last to have done so. Even a much bigger bodied Seguin was started out on the wing.

Being real, I just want to see some goals from CB and put up 75 pts this year.
His linemates are crap, if he does that I'll stop worrying and be prepared for him to explode when he gets some help.

As much as can make out in the hieroglyphics, I agree and would to see Bedard use both sides of his stick more.

If there are highlights of Bedard's backhanders out there I'd appreciate if someone could direct me to it.
Might be one of the dirtiest backhands I have seen considering he was a double under-ager and it was the gold medal game.

For those fretting about Bedard's start you can take solace in the fact that he usually had slower starts in junior as well. In his 16 year old season he had 10 points in his first 14 games until Regina's coach was fired and he had 90 points in his final 48 games to finish with 100 in 62.

As long as we have a garbage GM that surrounds Bedard with garbage then he will not get generational production out of him. Garbage breeds garbage. As soon as this pathetic Stan the Man pet said he’s gonna get rid of Kane and not do all he can to keep him he shoulda been out the door. Look at the garbage we have collected, bunch or inflated contracts of trash, man I can’t wait for this nightmare to end and it doesn’t seem like it will anytime soon.

It is notxabout Bedard's speed...rather his inability from when he got back from injury lastcspring thru this season to get good middle skit shots /hogh danger shotarea shotscoff and beat goaliesxwith it plus his work on draws because his stick is so long to get whip but this hurts his chances on winning draws.
So lose draw and aHawks lose oisession and tge attack goes to chase and defend...thesexarextge 2 brutal problems Bedard has not been able to fix ...
As to straight defending...I think of course hevis small and not yet body mature.. so losing puck battkesciscecpected..but I also think his goal scoring slump has effected his energy/confidence/focus and enthusiasm...longer slump goes the lres hecseems involved and focused..He never was a great defender in Juniors anyway so I guess we cannot expect that much from hom...certainly he and his kibe gettibg hemmed in d-zone too much on5x5..Maybe not alkl his fault but he certainly is not doing much to tilt the ice.

Low shot totals even if poor quality (not hogh danger slot shots) indicate his urgency and enthusiasm have declined as his confidence and self-doubt from his slump keeps going longer and longer.

He simply is NOT shining ...to theboibtbof just 1 or 2 shiftsxwhwre he is even visible with tge puck out there.

It is almost getting to be a GENERATIONAL slump.. and if this continues mich longer like this level of futile ineffective offense ,the Hawks brass must start asking...should they send him to Rockford to get his "mojo" back...because we have seen declining "mojo" from hom far too often most games this season and goibg back to last14 games last season.

Fallen off the cliff ? IT SURE seems like it..He looks like a little boy play ng agaibst men and everything going futile for hom.

He cannot deke out eve the worst bum dmen of other teams who look like all-star efficient in styling his attacks (IF he can get out ofvhisxd-zone 5x5)..

Pucks land on his stock from passes and bounce away before he can control it..Shots miss the net ir are blocked..he is not even hitting posts..so you cannot blame the funk on bad luck..He simply is not playing g to expected offensive standards expected.

And if his confidence gone, maybe the Rockford idea makes more sense than putting him out there in the Show for frustrating futile ineffectiveness..

Hawks such bad team they do not draw enough penalties...so Bedard cannot rely on copious PP odd man advantage /more unclogged ice to let him score more...
He cannot be just a pp specialist who does nothing else well.and who does not get that much PP time anyway because Hawks attack so weak it does not draw many penalties to give themselves a power play.

If he still us slumping after next 5 games then he should be demoted to Rockford to try to get his gift back...because right now he has lost "it"...

What if Bedard just never scores another goal? I mean it is possible. He might just be that guy who scored 25 goals through the first 86 games of his career and then never scored again. This could be it.

I mean... you posted the metrics as if you were questioning his skating. Then you're mind-blown when someone questions what you posted as if they jumped to some kind of conclusions?
First off, y'all know that I'm questioning his skating. Have said so in the past.

Second off, I still think he's going to figure it out eventually.

Just because I don't think he's going to be McDavid good, doesn't mean that I don't think he is going to be a star player. I have said Kane a bunch and that's what I think he's going to be.
