From the International forum, someone said he thought Celebrini was the one player who could be better than Bedard - of all the recent high end players drafted. Was it you, MF?Slight lean Bédard because of the raw creativity and ability to create something out of nothing with his shooting and vision but I will say that the change of pace and acceleration Celebrini has makes it more difficult for teams to defend him versus Bedard.
There was a play last night in the third period where he got the puck in transition and exploded into a gap and basically left Spurgeon and Foligno I believe it was in the dust, Spurgeon tripping him from behind being the only thing saving a breakaway.
Bedard might have superior puck handling and vision in a tight gap like that, and you can beat a lot of NHL defensemen by a combination of edge work and body deception like he has, but the all out pace that Celebrini has I think makes him a harder player to defend in his prime.
All that being said, slight lean Bedard at the moment because of his puck skills but Celebrini’s physical package and dynamism might win the day eventually; especially in transition it’s like watching MacKinnon
Shot? Celebrini has an awesome shot too. I don't see any other realistic argument aside from pure shooting ability. Once again, I wanted Bedard in his draft. We got Smith instead.Bedard at 19, what does he do better than a Celebrini at 18?
Noting
Celebrini has had 3 NHL games. One of those was his first game back from injury and he was clearly off his game.
The other two single games were probably more impressive than any single game Bedard has had in his 83 in the league.
He doesn't have a hat trick yet thoughUnquestionably Bedard has the higher offensive upside in terms of production. He can look extremely mediocre for forty minutes and then suddenly have a hat trick out of nowhere. That kind of talent is rare. I watched Bedard in the WHL matched up against Zach Benson head to head and Benson would look like the more impressive player for long stretches until Bedard suddenly put up five points in ten minutes.
Celebrini is so complete though, high pace and stands out every shift even when he's not scoring. As a biased Sharks fan, I prefer him.
To the part in bold, didn't we hear that about Luke hughes as well and I think Quinn is going to have the better career.McKenna will be better than both. But make me pick I go with Macklin. But you can't go wrong with Bedard either. Both really nice kids. Apparently Macklin's youngest brother is going to be a stud. Seven more years and he can come back home. Bedard in six. Right about the time Miller and Peter's contracts expire.
Enjoy him while he's there.Unquestionably Bedard has the higher offensive upside in terms of production. I didn't say he's going to be the best of the three but he's apparently a 13 year old phenom. To the part in bold, didn't we hear that about Luke hughes as well and I think Quinn is going to have the better career.
Sure, I meant in juniors. He doesn't have a hat trick yet though
Let me guess, Canucks fan? Enjoy fantasizing for the next eleven years. I'm sure Macklin will be chomping at the bit to join 36 year old Quinn Hughes and 37 year old Elias Pettersson in pursuit of a tenth overall pick.Enjoy him while he's there.

I'll take Celebrini + Smith over Bedard + Smith.
Oh believe me, I'm on your side here. Both are excellent players. I was attacked non-stop last time I suggested they're even close to equal and wouldn't trade Celebrini for Bedard. That was like a month ago.One has 25% the other 1%
If Bedard had the start Celebrini had they would be comparing him to McDavid, oh wait they already doing that before the draft. I wonder where that energy's gone

Who said anything about 11 years? He can be home in 7 years. Bedard in 6.Sure, I meant in juniors.

How many NHL games of his have you watched? I was really surprised at how complete his game is in all 3 zones thus far. I don’t see a lot of work required in any facet of his game, and he should only get better with age and experience.Gonna go out on a limb and say this one isn't even close for me. Bedard 100%.
I'm not even sure Celebrini will end up as a #1 center.
Edit for clarification: has the potential to be, but still requires a lot of work to get there
Admittedly zero. Just from my analysis from his scouting. How many NHL games of his have you watched? I was really surprised at how complete his game is in all 3 zones thus far. I don’t see a lot of work required in any facet of his game, and he should only get better with age and experience.
My sense is that, if you are able to watch him, you will be pleasantly surprised by how much he is already impacting the game in all 3 zones. The Sharks are playing NJD tomorrow at 4P PST/7P EST which is a more east coast-friendly game time than the local starts.Admittedly zero. Just from my analysis from his scouting.
He's a player that does everything well but nothing truly elite. With that said his shot does seem to be improved from his draft year based on highlights.
Celebrini for me. Bedard is a winger disguised as a C. Celebrini looks like Toews with more offense
I do have center ice so I'll have to check it out. The extended highlights I watched didn't have much of him handling the puck or making good defensive reads (based on the highlights you don't want to see him defensively). My sense is that, if you are able to watch him, you will be pleasantly surprised by how much he is already impacting the game in all 3 zones.
