If you're building a team from a clean slate and get to have either Bedard, Michkov or Celebrini, which one would you choose?

This is not a discussion about who will have a better stats sheet. Some things such as defense, leadership, etc, just don't show up in the stats sheet.

Everything shows up in the stats sheet. If it doesn't, then it doesn't matter.

Just need to look at the correct stats.

Michkov has been impressive looks like he ate enough Big Macs to play in the big leagues from the 140 pound tip as a junior, meanwhile Bedard is really sucking but still fully expect him to be the best player of the new NHL era when he puts it together and loses the white stick tape.

I think Michkov will get close but no cigar to Bedard, can't even spell the other dudes name off the top of my head so who cares about him.

Between Bedard and Michkov, really close, Michkov by a hair, but Celebrini is clearly #3 for me.
You don't build a consistent winner around a winger, every GM knows this

Yeah, this is it for me. Don’t know how Celebrini is leading. Maybe he’s in the same tier. I don’t think so, but it’s not so impossible. What I don’t agree with is him leading this poll. He’s third.
You haven't watched him play enough then, he has all the tools and is already outplaying Bedard , who has been pretty disappointing this season & Matvei is a winger, so no contest there

We're not even two months into the season. Let's see Celebrini have a better season than Bedard had last season before we say he's ahead of him.

Bedard has already proven himself in the NHL. Celebrini is like 12 games into his NHL career. I don't really care who is pacing at what level 12 games into an NHL season when comparing a proven player to an unproven player. I'm not going to all of a sudden believe I should take the sample of less than two months as more indicative than a full season of Bedard having one of the best D+1 seasons in recent memory compared to just a completely unproven Celebrini at this level.

I don't disagree there, way too early for a poll, but the fact is Bedard has not shown himself to be the "generational talent" he was supposed to be, yet and he will always be undersized. I argued for Bedard with someone at the start of the year, right after Mack got hurt, but 4 goals so far this year is underwhelming af, let's be honest. Based on today, its Mack, for his size & 2 way game so far more than anything else, but that could so easily change b4 long

I don't think Celebrini is a generational talent either.

I think we might be looking at something analogous to Toews (Celebrini) vs. Kane (Bedard). It'll likely be somewhat close, but yeah give me the overall more skilled player between the two that can make more plays with the puck. I think that's Bedard.

That's probably a good analogy, Kane & Toews and I don't think Mac is generational either, but I'll take the bigger guy every time if the skill is close. They have the better track record when it matters most, in the playoffs, when the whistles go away and the big boys start playing dirty & throwing their weight around more recklessly. Size matters, the average NHL'er could rag doll Berard and that'll never change 🤷‍♂️

Bedard didn’t have that great of a rookie season

There’s so much work for him to become a true franchise C and not a franchise W

That dude is winning this poll for a reason, so maybe you could try to learn his pretty easy to spell name 🤷‍♂️

Taking out the players who played only one game, he has the 3rd best U19 PPG in the NHL since the 2000-01 season after only Crosby and McDavid. Now I'm not saying he's generational like them. He's probably a little below, but he's still a very good player and had a very good rookie season.

Obviously small sample size and recency bias, but Celebrini has far exceeded my expectations and I love watching the kid play. Definitely gonna be doing my best to catch as many Sharks games as possible in the coming years, and if he gets any better this season than we've already seen I honestly think I'd take him.

He could be the same tier player I just wouldn’t bet on it/ bet against the other two.

I voted bedard but I’m not confident he’ll be better overall than Michkov

Oh look what a surprise you only went for offensive stats

Matthews& Laine had clearly better rookie seasons than Bedard as well if you want to go by offense. They were legit impact players

If you watched him at all you’d say his overall game looked abysmal, even team Canada had to admit they can’t play him because he was so raw

Bedard had good but nothing special rookie season for where he was drafted

Celebrinis overall game wipes the floor with Bedards and that’s extemely valuable and impressive

Bedard probably has the highest ceiling but he has the most work to do to get there

Sweet opinion, you have yours, I have mine. Celebrini’s already been hurt, what? Twice? I’ll take Michkov by a hair over Bedard to start a hockey team. I think both are just more talented players than Celebrini.
