That was my point. Everything is murky, no matter which way this goes. You could get the #1 and pick Williams. And he may end up being a downgrade from Fields.
But it doesn't really matter does it? Fields isn't it. So you have to attempt the next thing. You can't just run it back because the new guy might be worse. That would mean they both suck. But you don't know what Williams or Maye is, but you certainly know what Fields is.

If Fields is healthy and we have the worst record in the league again, he's not the guy, full stop. I know we have a load of holes, but a quality QB doesn't have the worst record in the league back-to-back seasons regardless of lack of talent around him.

If the Panthers pick is what gets us first overall, that's obviously a different conversation.

He might not be it. I have serious doubts about his ability to process a defense quick enough. But there's no reason to make any kind of definitive call right now. There's 11 games left.

Well yeah but no one is saying we just bench him and move on. Obviously he continues to play if healthy.

Getting Williams and MHJ in the same draft could vault us towards having a good-to-great offense almost immediately ala the Bengals. Having a potentially generational QB paired with a generational WR, a true #1 WR in DJ Moore, a solid TE in Kmet, and an improved line (Wright, Jenkins, Davis all look good) would be extremely exciting. Running it back with Fields is dumb.

Leonard floyd quietly having a really good start to the season. 5.5 sacks already, and a FF. Crazy to think Mack did all that in one game earlier this year
Edit - 6.5 sacks now

Wolverines fan here. Why not trade down with one of the picks and draft JJ? You could get an absolute haul from a team and load up on picks. The Bears don’t need just a new QB they just need to get a massive infusion of talent. More picks, more chances at hitting on someone

The bears absolutely need a new qb

I actually like JJ McCarthy but he is more of a late 1st early second project that sits for a couple years. I could see him being really good.

Personally, at this point, I would take Caleb #1 and then trade the 2nd first to whoever wants Maye. Broncos, Cardinals, Patriots.

Maybe take MHJ, maybe take Fashunu.. also

KEON COLEMAN is my guy. He's going to be a good NFL receiver.

Given how Johnson always seems to be banged up and has missed 8 games now thus far over last 2 years we should not be against drafting another CB
Ideally Gordon and Stevenson can be a solid tandem and we can get a slot in the later rounds or FA.

in an ideal world DJ Moore is your number 2...take MHJ if given the opportunity, Moore would be like your Tee Higgins with MHJ being Chase and Williams being Burrow
DJ Moore is a legit #1. If he's your number two that's fantastic but that's like a Malkin being your 2C because Crosby is your 1C-type situation more than anything.

So OL-turned GM Poles let a supposedly below-average center/good guard in James Daniels go for nothing, kept a much older 12mil/yr supposedly good center/guard in Cody Whitehair who can't snap straight anymore as center, brought in Lucas Patrick whom the coaches seemingly can't wait to relegate to the bench (per Suntimes' Halas Intrigue podcast) but now have to bring back in again because of Whitehair's suckage. Aside from the oft-unavailable Nate Davis, Poles also traded for Dan Feeney who can't seem to get on the field no matter who else dropped on the OL. Darnelle Wright showed up in the wrong spotlight again, by reportedly getting "worn down" by the Vikings defender on the play that saw Fields injured. Ja'Tyre Carter seems to be holding his own when called upon, as a 7th-round rookie. Sure could use a 25-yr old durable and affordably-signed guard as a veteran leader while providing some stability on this shamble of an OL right now, couldn't they?

Has it not become abundantly clear to arrogant Poles and his apologists that Poles' deliberate losing of Daniels unhinged the entire OL, whose loss continues to be felt throughout the interior OL?

Just watched the ALL22
My Notes:

Interior OL is murdering us.
Justin is seeing ghosts. Any sort of pressure its immediate eyes down tuck and survive. Missing throws. Has to just hang in there and make the throws. (can't really blame him).
Justin also still struggling with reads at the LOS.
Skill positions still pretty mid except for DJ Moore.
There is no like "trust" throws. Its mostly just throw if someone is open. Its not trusting your guy and just throwing it out there for him to get it.

At the end of the day I am still in the boat that I have been in for a bit now. Its been 30+ starts and you can't be having the things you see still be on the tape, regardless of how bad everything else is (and its bad).

The ball has to come out quicker. The ball came out quicker with bagent, guys are open and fields is missing them. Losing nate Davis early and having a below average center hurt a lot
