Weird the mayor decides after the Bears buy up the Arlington ground for a future stadium that she decides to play ball. Too late for that now.

Just a move to save face on her part. Nobody wants to be known as the mayor that lost the Bears.

Although a little hidden threat did catch my eye:

She didn’t rule out building the dome without the Bears, noting “plenty of cities” have had two NFL franchises.

Bring on AFC Chicago, baby. C'mon up, Chicago Jaguars!

Chicago could easily support another team. And to have an AFC team win the SB before the bears do would be a big middle finger to Bears management. Not sure they would ever care though.....

LOL, if a 2nd team actually came (one won't), they'd be the Bears' tenant in AH like the Rams/Chargers situation long before they went to SF.
As a Chargers fan.....please don't remind me of that. It is hard to be a fan when they are in LA compared to SD. All Chargers fans hate the Spanos family. All of us.

The most interesting/important part of all these plans is the planned soccer specific renovation, which looks to be the worst idea I've ever seen.

It appears they would raise the playing field to make the current 300 level the field level, keeping the horribly steep 400 level grandstand. Good luck getting people to hike up 30 rows for the f***ing Fire.

I assume this means he’s starting

I hope not. I mean if he does start, what does that say about the current eight OT (four potential legit) in camp; Reiff is 34 yr old, ended last year on a bum ankle and was ranked 49th OT last year by PFF. He'll likely never make it through a full 17 game schedule. So start one of the youngsters and by game six or seven the may be as good, or better, than Reiff would be. Granted, paying that amount for a back-up or swing seems a bit excessive. 'Course if he is the more likely candidate to keep J Fields upright and from getting blind-sided, then start him. It's just sad that the O-line has come down to this level.

You don’t give 10 mil for a guy to back up. He’s your day 1 left tackle and Jenkins of Borom will be the swing tackle

I remember Daley was toying with idea of trying to get a 2nd team to Chicago, but it always came down to not having brand new stadium (A must for NFL approving move) and opposition from Bears

Chicago made mistake of not working with Bears on new stadium in late 90's when there was plenty of potential land sights in city away from lake. If I recall correctly people even pushed idea of new stadium as way to revitalize some of Chicago's blight. But city didn't have interest and eventually that idiotic and absurd butchering of historic Soldier Field was what they went with

As fans, we all really got screwed by the Cardinals moving before pro football really blew up. If they could've held out another 10 years and shifted to the AFC post-merger both could've moved to SF at the same time.

As a Bears fan I feel like I’d give up watching football or cheering for a specific team before I’d root for a non-Bears Chicago based team.

I hope to live a day to see this organization not build an offensive line filled with backups and average starters in their mid to late 30s.
