To defend McCarthy a bit some of his "Failures" in GB were entirely result of his QB's but because media loved them (At time, not so loved anymore) those horrid failures were talked down and in time blamed placed on McCarthy instead

Favre going all Favre in NFC Championship game cost them likely trip to SB with these horrendous and costly INT's late



Horrendous 1st INT early in 4th qtr = 3:14
Instead of simply throwing it away or even taking sack with 1st and 10 at Giants 32 we saw usual Favre doing his BS attempt at hero ball and throws up a horrendous INT picked off at 8 yd line

Horrendous 2nd INT = 4:42
A horrible pass not even a minute into OT giving ball to Giants right at FG range which eventually resulted in winning FG and Giants going to Super Bowl

In NFC Champ game vs Seahawks the Packers D picked off Wilson 4 times + forced a fumble they recovered.

Aaron Rodgers played like absolute shit going 19-34 for 178 yds with 2 absolutely awful picks

Packers lost in Overtime 28-22

Rodgers got 117 yds rushing in support from Lacy/Starks on 26 carries so Rodger fanboys cant claim he was alone and unable to carry team. He had running support and strong game by D and shit bed



Horrendous 1st INT = :14
Rodgers instead of taking a little and setting up FG tries to go all hero ball and throws awful INT in endzone

Horrendous 2nd INT = 3:14
Just horrible throw by Rodgers

Two NFC Championship games lost in OT in which his star QB played like shit with Favre going full Favre at biggest moments, but the media couldn't possibly hold their beloved favorites accountable (seriously before Rodgers recent shit remember how much the media adored him and Favre in GB was a demigod to be worshiped during broadcasts)

Like all coaches McCarthy had his own failings/moments but he got entirely way to much blame for GB not having more success

Even though it is one season, a healthy Erik Kramer gives Cutty a run for his money. We will never know what Kramer would have done had he stayed healthy. In all of the years Cutty was a Bear, he never broke Kramer's single season records.

Yeah, I don't want McCarthy, not even as a fall back option. Harrison Graham (Bears Now) was recently pushing McCarthy had as a fall back in case Ben Johnson goes elsewhere.

Williams is slow in recognizing developing pass routes. Not terribly slow but college-slow. That’s part of the reason he led the league in sacks taken with 68.

And someone raised the same point on Reddit that even Ryan Pace valued, but the reigning GM of Offseason Championships doesn't care for in the least in light of his 1OA "most NFL-ready" QB propsect:
One thing people aren't on Poles about is that there really is no QB veteran presence. Someone needs to be in that QB room to help Caleb out navigate everything. Most young QBs have that. It's amazing that Poles did not see a need to have someone mentor our rookie QB. And that seems to be the biggest mistake with Poles - he doesn't pay attention to the details. This is why the oline sucks. And why he got weapons in the WR spots but couldn't see a coach who could put it together. And figured players can overcome a bad training camp.

What the Patriots did was far worse than any organization I've seen take advantage of the rule. Everyone and their mother knew the Patriots wanted Vrabel and the Patriots gave a token interview just to appease it. Aaron Glenn literally rejected an interview with them because he saw what was going on and the writing on the wall. I hope they fix that rule and I'm surprised not more people are talking about it.

Titans are requesting a second interview with him. Here's hoping... although from what was said about Cunningham (even in the offseason) I think he'll be a better GM than Poles.

They already interviewed Ron Rivera and Aaron Glenn guys... Shaw has no need to fit for the Rooney Rule. Why is that your go to thought or complaint?

He has the credentials to be a HOF coach by the time he hangs it up if he can coach another 5 or so years. He's "only" 61 so another 5 or more years of coaching isn't some crazy ask. Andy Reid is 66 for comparison.

McCarthy is top 10 in coaching wins all time and has a SB ring I would have to imagine is enough for a HOF worthy resume.
 
I wouldn’t mind McCarthy at all but I refuse to put any effort into doing any research on this head coach search. Why sow seeds of disappointment? Also I’m expecting whoever they pick will end up a much worse head coach than he has been.
