Poles pregame said there was starting the game issues from training camp that were evident.

That's his job to fix.

From a search, There's only been 11 55+ kicks all year. Idk why you act like that's bigger and standard at all. That's a non issue overblown. Santos made a 54 yarder this yearm. They could try, but was it still raining or not? Location matters.
The number attempted is a function of how many teams are in that exact spot with that exact deficit as time runs out. The point is, today’s NFL kickers should be able to hit from 57, and the Bears set themselves up to lose twice this year by having one who can’t.

If the Bears keep Poles once the season is over, that is keeping Flus after 2023 all over again. There is no way the Bears FO can spin keeping Poles? No way they think Bears fans are stupid, right?
Not the same situation. No team in the league is dumb enough to go into a season with the GM on a one-year contract while looking for a new coach. He's either getting an extension or he's gone.

Eberflus, by all reports, had a 5 year contract.

Funny thing is we saw some horrendous clock management by Flus. If we hadn’t, we’d be talking about last night’s end go game clock management as some of the worst you’ve ever seen

I'm saying, you can't bring Poles back. Firing Poles is as mandatory at this point as it was to fire Flus.

What if Ben Johnson agrees to sign, but only if the Bears retain Poles?

But only if Poles also has to wear a little stupid crown for all the Twitter warriors who insisted on giving him the moniker 'King Poles' before the team had actually had any success?

But yeah, I agree. I'm not sure it would be unprecedented, but it sure would be very unusual that a GM gets to stay on after going 15-37 through three seasons, and having a considerably worse record in year 3 than year 2.

To me the worst thing is you hired a man to be passing game coordinator... and Brown in post game said

"There aren't many great answers for zero coverage, other than running the QB" On the Seahawks blitzing

— 79th & Halas Podcast (@79thAndHalas)December 27, 2024

He was grossly incompetent for the job of passing game coordinator if he can't figure out there are numerous passing hot reads, inside routes, just one on one back shoulder routes, etc. All ways to counter. And reseeing those last 4 plays... they really did just run all deep routes. The check downs weren't even there though because they had spys on Caleb and the RB's. He had nothing.

I was never on the, oh Brown should stay at oc or hc train, but maybe a former running back & running back coach needs to learn about passing a lot more before being an OC or it turns out even passing game coordinator. I've seen some people hint they think he has connections and will join the Vikings staff next year or go back to the Rams.

Shocking that the Bears hired a guy who is terrible at his job. Absolutely shocking.

Pace/Poles what's the difference at this point?
Poles is worse at building a winning team, but better at not hamstringing the team while failing to win? Small victories. Not counting actual Ws, of course.

... yeah, that's not a good quote. That's a "don't hire me as OC next season" type of quote.

Can anyone explain to me how Keenan Allen has only been credited with 5 dropped passes?

Whoever decides that official stat must be a former receiver.
Because getting an outstretched pass at their legs or leapiny and getting 1 hand on it isn't counted as a drop.

He had 5 before this last game. He had a throw on the sideline on a 3rd down like 2 yards short and very low he dropped.

That's not a drop because it was a way low ball.

Even with that being the case, 5 still seems awfully low and generous for him.

I don’t trust that stat. We’ve seen at least one drop from Keeenan almost every single game. I counted (and commented live) on two in the first half alone on Thursday

Harbaugh is about to clinch a playoff spot.

The Bears didn’t interview Harbaugh.

Not a culture fit. Looking for people who won't rock the boat, are happy to be there, and will kiss the McCasskey's ring.

With the exception of Williams, Odunze, Kmet, and Gordon, there's not a member of the organization that I'd say has to be back next year. The owners (and neporelations throughout the org), President, GM, staff, and every coach can get f***ed. Amongst players there are plenty of guys who I think in a better culture you can count on to do there job. I often like Sweat, Wright, Jones, Moore, Dexter, Edwards, Brisker, and Johnson, but there have been some frustrating business decisions, cap hits, or injury issues for each of those guys. If someone came in and said, everyone but Williams will not be a bear in 4 years, I'd live. If someone say, Williams isn't my guy, I'd like with that to, as long as they hired someone competent.

Ultimately, I do think Williams is the guy- and many of our starters can be solutions- but it's all for naught without leadership at coach and GM.

What are the odds we draft 6th or 8th-9th? Is 7th pretty like 80% chance?

Here's a visual of what I was saying: The play here at 1:00-1:10. The 3rd down Caleb threw to Allan.

You see that and call that a drop.

That's not a NFL stat counted drop. That's all it is.

Unless both the Panthers and the Jets win another game, which seems unlikely, the 1st round pick will be at #9. Strength of schedule is among the highest in the league. Barring a win against the Packers, which I give right around 0% chance of happening.
