Hard to imagine the Bears winning two games. I think thay means worst case scenario they end up picking 10th if they did manage to win 1 more to tie the Saints, and the Saints were to lose out at the same time.

I think the Bears lose the tiebreaker with the Jets who currently have the same record, so currently slotted for the 9th pick.

Two QBs and Hunter will be a lock to before the Bears pick, and probably the WR from Arizona.

Think about this. Poles’ term as GM included a 14 game losing streak and is now in the midst of an 8 game losing streak that will likely go to 11

In no universe should any NFL GM keep his job after that. It’s not even a discussion

Why in the universe would you target Keenan Allen 13 times a game? The guy wouldn't and shouldn't be on the roster next year. Another fourth-round pick well spent...

Because he had to rack up 4 drops.

I was trying to figure that out too, but then stopped caring. It would be interesting to see someone watch the replays and see what Odunze and Moore are doing on these routes.

Not even going to mention Kmet in that sentence because I don't know why neither of our OCs refuse to target him. On pace for the fewest targets of his career this year with the exception of his rookie year.

Having watched every single one of the QB School reviews of all offensive plays, the answer is very often that Allen is the #1 read or that Allen is the hot read. Issue that comes with that is that Allen as the #1 read wins slowly because he's slow.

Sure, Moore quits on routes, but a bigger issue is that he just doesn't really win on routes. Odunze wins inconsistently. Against zone, Allen has a feel for sitting down in between coverage, which Odunze doesn't as of yet.

Allen had a really good game against the Vikings last time. I'm not surprised to see him targeted so many times.

They need to think long and hard about picking up a RB in the draft. Very strong RB class, and having a RB1 who can't reliably run between the tackles or pick up a yard isn't doable.

No doubt. I'd be fine with them spending a 3rd rounder on one.

I've read that Campbell and Banks profile as guards. If true, then I really hope that's who they go with one of them.

One of those guys paired with Braxton Jones on the left side. Then if by some miracle you can sign Trey Smith to play RG next to Wright as the RT.... That has the makings of a damn good offensive line.

I feel like the only top rated OT in the draft who consistently profiles as an OT is the injured tackle out of OSU.

Yeah, I think grabbing a G out of the draft together with a G in FA (Smith if it's at all possible, otherwise possibly Becton if you think he won't be another Nate Davis). The only issue then is that you're still missing a C.

I understand that people are pissed about Kramer's forgetting to report, but I have no idea why people are acting as if using Kramer as a fullback in front of both Johnson and Swift has been a guaranteed short yardage success up until yesterday. The only time it didn't work was when they handed Kramer the ball. It's been more automatic than a QB sneak or the tush push this season.

It's a good play. It just didn't work yesterday because of a mental error.

I'm just gonna do some more ranting about the media:

Doug Kramer thing, see above.

No, you don't pick up guaranteed starters in the 3rd round. That's not how this works. The hit rate is sub 20%. Poles has been atrocious in the 3rd round, and he's not even statistically unusually bad in that round after 3 drafts. I spent one minute looking this up yesterday. That's how easy it is to double check.

No, your investment with a top 10 pick on an OT should not be expected to be an All-Pro level player. That's not how this works. Look at first round picks on OT over the past 10 years and how they've done. Yes, some are All-Pros. Some are high level starters. Some never reached the level Darnell Wright is playing at. You pick OTs early in the draft because that's where you find capable players. And for the love of all that is holy, stop presenting it as Carter or Wright. Carter dropped past 4 other teams who picked objectively inferior players because of the street race that resulted in the death of his teammate and a Georgia staff member. Not because they thought he wasn't good at football. He was universally viewed as the best or 2nd best player in the draft.

Do your damned jobs. I don't care if a random fan on a forum is incorrect about these things, but this is literally your livelihood. Is it too much to ask that you look into these things before your spread your misinformed nonsense to the masses that trust in you to not be wrong?

There are SO MANY THINGS to be critical about Poles for. He's spending about $40M this year on a mediocre RB, a mediocre LB, and a G who's no longer on the team. He started out his tenure not focusing on the trenches, and three years later he has largely not focused on fixing the trenches. His trade history is spotty at best, buoyed by a single robbery of the Panthers. Focus on the actual flaws, not what you perceive to be problems because you kinda sorta want them to be.

The 24/7 news-as-entertainment was a mistake in sports as well.

The worst thing is that the Vikings have catapulted to their 2nd 12+ win seasons in 3 years under KOC, while their draft history those 3 years looks like this:

That's a hodge-podge of awful picks (Cine), bad luck (McCarthy, K. Jackson RIP), and incompletes (Turner) with the only slam dunk being speedster on and off the field in Addison.

What he did do is spend next to nothing on low value positions, pick great coaches, spent on high value positions, and just in general do smart things. Must be nice.

Is there a typical timeframe for when a GM in the NFL is fired?
According to ESPN, the median tenure for a GM is 3 years. So Poles' being fired wouldn't be an unusually short tenure. I personally feel like 3 years is arguably 1 year too soon to decide how good they are at drafting, but plenty of time to look at everything else (FA, coaches).

I actually am trying to ask in terms of when on the calendar. Looks like Pace and Nagy were fired in January, so if Poles is going to get the boot, I would assume it happens around then.

That's what I'm thinking/hoping.

I don't have any faith in Warren, though. He comes across as such a pompous ass and dbag.
My only hope is that Warren is willing to do something a bit drastic like get rid of the GM to get some kind of excitement in the fanbase. Otherwise the whispers will probably turn toward the extremely well compensated person who was hired to build a stadium that doesn't even almost exist, and oversee a football operation that is floundering.

But yeah, I also don't like the person. Snake oil all around.

They really drafted a dude named Jaquelin? Did they take D Nice and A A Ron too?
