These the oline signings by Poles:

JaTyre Carter
Doug Kramer
Zach Thomas
Braxton Jones
Darnell Wright
Alex Leatherwood
Kiran Amegadje
Ryan Bates
Coleman Shelton
Nate Davis
Matt Pryor
Lucas Patrick
Dakota Dozier

He should 100% be gone for that and the VJJ pick and Claypool trade.

A couple of quotes that had me spitting out coffee:

"Additionally, the Bears released part-time offensive lineman Nate Davis on Wednesday morning."

"Did Poles get a refund from TEMU where he got his OLINE and coaches?"

Dane Brugler who always has a good ear to the ground (and is also a good scout) released his mid-season top 50.

Plenty of talent on the D-line. He has 10 O-linemen in his top 50, but says as of right now, it's not a good year to need a tackle. Will Campbell is viewed as a guard for many teams. Kelvin Banks Jr. is universally viewed as a guard. Williams out of Texas is super raw. Simmons out of OSU is injured. After that you're probably talking 2nd round talents.

Luckily, the Bears need to replace 4 out of 5 O-linemen, and the most pressing need are the interior 3 players.

Don't think we know who will be a viable C until the Senior Bowl. Graham Barton was a tackle at Duke who wasn't viewed as a C until Senior Bowl last year.

I maintain that 2 of the first 3 picks NEED to be O-linemen, and they need to spent the majority of resources in free agency on the line.

Chiefs will struggle to extend Trey Smith, who is a guard. He’s still young too so you likely have his best years ahead.

Ronnie Stanley as a tackle an option too but he’ll be entering his 30s. I’d still be happy if they targeted him, though.

If I’m the GM I’m prioritizing getting one of those guys. Gives you a little more flexibility come draft time.

I hate the idea of trading back but if they really shit the bed down the stretch…. It’s possible their draft position is around where one of the last QBs goes around the top 10. Could trade back to get a nice haul but still address your biggest area of need in the first round.

I'm 100% on board with Trey Smith. I understand the thought process behind spending on LB and RB, and cheaping out on more expensive positions to try to get value. It didn't work, so now stop that, and spend whatever necessary on the best guard in FA.

I'd probably go for Campbell, Banks, or whichever OL has a Darnell Wright-esque rise late in the season and at the Senior Bowl, and just go best OL available instead of trading down. Barring some insane runs in the college football playoffs this year, I doubt that any other than Ward and Sanders will be going high anyway.

Yeah I’d only trade down if say Ewers is on the board and someone is willing to grossly overpay.

Glancing at standings…. Not a ton of obvious options of teams likely drafting after the Bears that would be in the QB market. Maybe the Rams or Seahawks, but I think they’re both one more season away from wanting to figure out who their next QB is.

I'd say the real issue comes down to how cheap he has gone on it. Misses is one thing, but he hit an absolute homerun in Braxton Jones, and seems to have decided he can do that again.

OL drafted in:

Round 1: Darnell Wright
Round 2:
Round 3: Kiran Amegadjie
Round 4:

He spent big on Nate Davis, which was a complete miss. But he has tried to cheap out on the position soooo much. And so, after 3 years here, the line is in the same bad situation it were when he joined the team (if not worse). That's unacceptable.

Exactly. I’d feel better if he spent some money on an over the road vet like Orlando Pace back in the day.

Summary for the people without an Athletic subscription: despite coming from the McVay tree, Waldron's scheme and playcalling this season looked absolutely nothing like the other playcallers around the league from the McVay tree.

I wonder if there is any analysis on Waldron's scheme compared to the other McVay coaches from previous seasons. Cause that's really weird.
