Adam Gase is now the Jets interim GM in addition to HC. Talk about failing upwards.
Gase has done a wonderful job playing politics through the media. He's got high visible Jets fans like Greenberg and Stugotz singing his praises ... which gets the deplorable Jets / Islanders fans excited. I have a lot Jets/Mets/Islander friends. They are intolerable.

Furthermore, the Johnsons are terrible owners. Nepotism is a terrible thing.

Gase has come a long way from this:

With Patrick Peterson being suspended for the first 6 games, I wonder what his asking price would be if the Cardinals got off to like a 1-4 start. We'll have 2 second round picks with our and the Raiders and Peterson has 2 years left on his deal.

I don't even have a guess to what the asking price would be, though.

Vikings in cap hell. This will be the Bears in a couple years if they decide to pay Mitch...

Minnesota Vikings Are Desperate to Escape the NFL's Worst Quarterback Trap

Vikings in cap hell because they went to FA and overpaid a meh QB in a groundbreaking all-guaranteed contract.

I know you think that the sky is falling all the time, but the Bears aren't idiots with contracts. They'll have to make some hard choices but they won't be in cap hell like the Vikings are.

It's all gonna come down to what Mitch and his agents asking price will be....

Isn't that kind of obvious? There's a reason why teams reach on QBs in the first round. Rookie QB deals are the best values in the NFL if that rookie QB is good. Once any team pays a premium for a good QB, they have to find young cheap talent at other positions in a hard capped sport. It's no different in hockey.

Bears contending window is short so if Mitch is not the guy Pace believes he is (A franchise QB) we will have squandered the Mack era

That is why Pace/Nagy botching kicking situation and costing Bears dearly in playoffs is a big deal

Already threw away a year of window by self inflicted wound

First ... Pace acquired Mack.

Second ... weren't you killing the Bears for giving up too much for Mack?

Third ... Mitch's cheaper contract enabled the Bears to trade for Mack.

So without Trubisky, there is no Mack because we would have paid $27mn for Cousins.

Yes ... no one is excusing the Bears for the kicking fiasco. That said, we also acknowledge Pace/Nagy made some incredible moves to even get to a Wild Card game last year.

If Gruden had a decent team, we too would be destroying him for his kicking woes. He drafted a kicker and he sucked ... only to cut him after costing him games too.

Yep, it's a small window. Bears essentially have a 3 year window with the present core. This upcoming season is year 2 of 3

If Mitch is looking to cash in on a 100 million dollar deal, Bears need to let him walk as he is simply not worth the long term cap hit.

Agreed that's why Pace needs to let Mitch walk if he is looking for a 100 million dollar deal.
