WSH Realistic 2014-2015 season
Never done these before and don't like the way I captured the data. Rebooting the BEAGM and posting what I have in a flood.
edit: Nevermind not posting anymore hideous walls of text that no one will read. Just scrapping everything and starting over to work on the presentation as I go along for the new one.

I’ve played way too many GM modes as Washington and it’s just too easy for me now. Since this is my first time posting my BEAGM I wanted it to be one I really cared about and put effort into. So the above rules should make it extra challenging and hopefully interesting. The trade block is actually very useful and it’s a feature I will be heavily relying it. I’ve got 1 absolutely horrendous long term contract with Brooks Orpik to resolve somehow. It should be entertaining to see how that plays out.
Strategies explained: Each strategy slider has 10 settings. I start each slider in the middle. Use the numbers to move the slider that many positions and the letter determines the direction.
Offense = Behind the net – Overload – Crash the net, Carry – Dump, Cycle – Shoot, No Block – Block
Example: Behind 3c 4c 1nb
Defense = Hold – Pinch, Cycle – Shoot
Example: 4h 3c
Pre-season 2014-2015 - The roster has too many grinder type players for my liking. There is no 2C or 1RW on the roster and the defense, while stacked, is just too pricey for my taste. It also doesn’t really leave any roster spots for developing prospects in the coming years. These are the things I will be looking to change through my trade block. Otherwise things are going to be tough for me in 2 or 3 years, contract wise.
Lines – Burakovsky is given the chance to claim the RW on my NHL top line. I hope it works out but have serious doubts. There really isn’t a great candidate for that spot but Johansson will have to suffice if Burakovsky doesn’t pan out there. The rest of the forward lines look pretty good even though I have about 2-3 redundant role players. The defense is stacked and I wouldn’t be surprised if we ended up in the top 5 for GAPG. The AHL forward lines are hot garbage but that is mainly because I literally only have prospect with NHL potential down there. Not to say that the lines aren’t “good” but they are not to my liking. I like to use my AHL affiliate as a straight up farm team. The defense looks better and I have 3-4 prospects with NHL potential there.

Regular season 2014-2015
The pre-season showed that Andre Burakovsky is not ready for top line minutes just yet. While another youngster earned a promotion, Tom Wilson. The NHL forward lines were edited to reflect these changes. Hopefully I can shed some of these redundant players and their piss poor contracts from the bottom 6.

Glencross 84 – Kuznetsov 82 – Burakovsky 79

CPU initiated trade – I think Chicago overpaid me here as I would’ve dumped Peters for even less, lol. Chandler Stephenson is a prospect from before my tenure and I didn’t see NHL potential there so I’ll gladly take the 4th round pick. Also these trades freed up 2 roster spots and a little cap. Making it easier for other teams to make deals with me.

All star game 2014-2015 - Mike Green made the team and Washington has played well up to this point. I still feel we have too many grinders and no one has offered anything up for my trade block to address that. I adjusted my trade block anticipating the upcoming trade deadline.

Forgot to record the player stats for the AHL.
Waiver claim – Yay this was superb as the teams depth at C is really really weak. I also want to get rid of Brooks Laich’s contract so this acquisition will help if that comes to fruition.
C C. Jarnkrok 78ovr 23yrs 3.5y $0.900M@1yr
Trade deadline 2014-2015 - Well I got my wish and was able to move 2 of my bad contracts. However the contracts I took on are actually a little worse, lol. These 2 skill players are much more useful for my roster though. Now I actually believe we can win the Stanley Cup. The draft picks are just icing.

End of season 2014-2015 - Jarnkrok and Wilson have both progressed, 79 and 82 respectively. We won the President’s trophy! The talent in Hershey was just terrible this season and that is something I intend to rectify in the coming drafts.

Playoffs 2014-2015 - I don’t plan on going this in depth in the future and for this year only the (X) is not the playoff seed but where the team placed in the NHL standings.
WSH(1) vs TB(14)
WSH 2-1 Andre Burakovsky nets the first playoff goal of his career.
TB 9-6 no defense from either team WTF.
WSH 7-5 and the offensive battle continues.
WSH 4-3 and TB continues to show their ability to score on one of the top defenses.
TB 4-3 OT WSH fails to close it out in a tight game allowing 2 goals in the 3rd and eventually losing in OT.
WSH 4-2 closing out the series 4-2. Calle Jarnkrok scores 2 goals.
WSH(1) vs NYR(3) battle of some giants in the 2nd round in the East.
WSH 3-1 as Mike Green continues to dominate scoring his 4th of the playoffs.
WSH 3-2 in a tight game.
NYR 4-1 in a defiant win. Ovechkin tallied the only goal for Washington.
NYR 5-4 OT and yet another close game. The series is now tied. Ovechkin is coming alive scoring 2 goals.
WSH 3-2 OT in a thrilling game. Ovechkin scores again making that 7 goals in the playoffs.
WSH 3-2 toppling what could be their toughest opponent of the playoffs.
WSH(1) vs DET(13) will Detroit's surprising playoff run continue?
DET 2-0 as Washington blanks the scoreboard for the first time.
WSH 5-1 and they respond with a dominant win over the lower seed.
WSH 3-1 as they take control of the Eastern Conference finals series. Ovechkin now has 10 goals and is the playoff leader.
WSH 4-3 OT Andre Burakovsky displays his poise as he tallies the OT GWG.
WSH 6-4 and winning the ECF on the back of their 2 rookies, Burakovsky setup Evgeny Kuznetsov for the GWG. Ovechkin notched the empty netter to seal it, he now has 14 goals.
WSH(1) vs NSH(17) the Cinderella story that puts every other story to shame. Washington is expected to wipe the floor with them. However it should be noted NSH beat CLG(2) in a tight series 4-3. They then went on to sweep VAN(8) and WPG(16).
WSH 3-2 in a close game but Ovechkin displays his goal scoring ability netting 2 more.
WSH 5-3 and it's looking a little bleak for NSH. As Washington's secondary scoring out paces the Predators.
WSH 4-3 and Ovechkin's talent proves to be too potent for the Predators as he nets a hat trick.
WSH 2-1 and they've repelled the Presidents trophy curse and won the Stanley Cup. Ovechkin lead all scorers with 19g and 29pts.

Scouted prospects – These are guys I’m targeting but since I can’t initiate trades I just have to hope my picks and their availability line up. The 1st number is where my scout projects them to be taken and the 2nd number is the draft pick I’ve allocated for them. Unfortunately the projected number is wrong pretty often until my scouting level increases.
