Regardless if the Leafs win this series or not, I have to say it is nice to play a non-Cup-Final quality team off the hop.

Leafs can be tons better, but this was a helluva start.

Montreal and CBJ weren't cup final quality teams either. The difference is they won game 1 this time around.

They’d have to lose in the first round and probably with a social media Marner soft moment to boot. Beyond that I can’t fathom they walk from each other.

They’ll tighten up but you know where their fault lines are going to be and how to exploit them.

This was a smart mature game by the Leafs. They didn't get caught up in the shenanigans of that dirty Ottawa team. Another reason why this team is DIFFERENT boys. Don't retaliate, keep the sticks down, play smart defensively, and let them take penalties where we capitalize. Sounds like a recipe for success. Also shame on Uncle Fester on the post-game show claiming Ottawa is softening up the Leafs for the next game.

They definitely played a hard team game. Matthews throws 4 checks, Robertson 3. The entire core played like they really cared and they didn't back down.

What about Knies? He received the loudest non-goal cheer from the crowd when he blocked the shot. An informed fanbase tonight giving the love for the sacrifice. He played the most minutes tonight and of all the players on both sides, the Sens don't have an answer for Knies.

OEL looked great. The 4th Line was dominant 5 on 5.

Looking back they clearly are under the skin of the Sens and if this continues Leafs will have 4+ PPs a game and they will finish the Sens off with certainty. The dirty stuff at the buzzer deserves some league discussions with the Sens.
